Yevan David (born 11 July 2007) is a Sri Lankan racing driver who currently competes in the Euroformula Open with Team Motopark. He previously competed in the 2024 F4 Spanish Championship for Saintéloc Racing.
David is set to race in FIA Formula 3 in 2026 with AIX Racing.
Early life
[edit]David was born on 11 July 2007 in Romford, UK to Sri Lankan parents Yohan David and Roshika Ranasinghe.[1][2][3] The family moved to Singapore when David was four years old.[4] David grew up in Singapore where he was educated at a local primary school before joining Chatsworth International School in Year 4.[5][6]
David's grandfathers Paramesh David and Nirmal Ranasinghe were both involved in motor racing in Sri Lanka.[7][8] David's first foray into motor racing was in 2014 when he went go karting with his father at the Sri Lanka Karting Circuit in Bandaragama.[2][7][9] He was given a go kart and began racing in Singapore in 2015 at the age of 7.[2][9] He also raced in Malaysia and Macau and in 2017, at the age of 10, he became the IAME Asia Series X30 champion in the cadet category.[10][11] In January 2018 he won the X30 Asia Cup in Bandaragama in the cadet category.[11][12]
Career
[edit]Formula 4
[edit]David made his single-seater debut in the 2024 Formula 4 UAE Championship with Saintéloc Racing, he scored no points and placed 26th in the standings, with a best finish of 13th place.[13]
His main campaign lied in the F4 Spanish Championship with Saintéloc.[14] Competing in all rounds bar the season finale in Barcelona, David took two seventh place finishes throughout the season and ended his campaign 19th overall.
In October, David participated in the FIA Motorsport Games Formula 4 Cup.[15] He took pole position in qualifying,[16] but dropped to third in the qualification race after a battle with Peru's Andrés Cárdenas.[17] He would finish third on the road again in the main race but a series of time penalties for track limits demoted him to 11th place.[18]
Eurocup-3
[edit]David competed in a one-off round during the 2024 Eurocup-3 season with Saintéloc Racing to replace an injured Finley Green; he finished the races tenth and seventh.[19]
Euroformula Open
[edit]2024
[edit]David competed in the final round of the 2024 Euroformula Open Championship with Team Motopark as a guest driver.[20] He had an outstanding debut, taking his first single-seater victories in race 1 and race 3, whilst earning a third-place finish in race 2.[21]
2025
[edit]David continued in the Euroformula Open full-time in 2025, remaining with Team Motopark.[22]
GB3
[edit]In August 2025, David made his GB3 debut in Silverstone with Xcel Motorsport.[23]
FIA Formula 3
[edit]In 2026, David will progress to Formula 3 with AIX Racing, becoming the first Sri Lankan to race in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.[24]
