Virgin Trains is a brand name of the Virgin Group for passenger rail transport, used by several companies of the group (listed with the percentage ownership of the Virgin Group between brackets):
- Virgin Trains Europe Holdings Limited, see Virgin Trains (open-access operator)
- Virgin Trains East Coast (10%): supersed by London North Eastern Railway from 2015 until June 2018
- Virgin Trains USA in Florida from 2018 to 2020
WCT Group (until 2021 Virgin Rail Group)
[edit]Virgin Rail Group (51%) had two subsidaries:
- Virgin CrossCountry, which operated between 1997 and 2007 the Cross Country railway franchise in the United Kingdom, superseded by Arriva CrossCountry[1]
- West Coast Trains Limited (51%) or Virgin Trains West Coast: train operating company on the West Coast Main Line. Renewed franchise bid unsuccessful, superseded by Avanti West Coast in December 2019. Virgin Trains ExpressCoach was the brand for inter-city bus & coach services. As part of Virgin Rail Group's winning bid for the InterCity West Coast franchise, it committed to introducing coach links with through ticketing to destinations off the West Coast Main Line.
