Welcome to Wikipedia

Hi Xcelonesix (talk · contribs), welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions to the Stage Bus Service Transformation article, which you created. I plan to merge the article content into my existing draft (User:JaventheAlderick/BAS.MY) that I've been working on for a while, so that the article will become more complete. In addition, once I'm done with my draft, I suggest that the (new) article title be named BAS.MY (instead of the current name of "Stage Bus Service Transformation") as more readers will be looking for "BAS.MY" over "Stage Bus Service Transformation" (see WP:COMMONNAME). =JaventheAldericky= (Would you like to talk to me?) 05:46, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I prefer to retain the page with its official scheme name of SBST, since the scheme itself have been using different brandings over years (MyBas, SBST and later BAS.MY), and it is possible to have its branding change again later. Having a redirect from BAS.MY is better in my opinion since we need not to change the page name at least in foreseeable future as any new branding will be based on the same scheme otherwise.Xcelonesix (talk) 06:04, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I get your point of view, and I do agree that the official (formal) name is currently "Stage Bus Service Transformation" (SBST). The problem is that (at least according to the sources I've found) even this official name can change as well; at least one source has stated that a "Stage Bus Service Transformation 2.0" (SBST 2.0) will be launched (in reference to BAS.MY Kuantan). Given that even the official name could be changed in the future, I highly suggest that BAS.MY be adopted as the article title for now (per WP:COMMONNAME), and that if future name changes occur down the road (or alternatively, if a new official name is established), the title can be changed accordingly. =JaventheAldericky= (Would you like to talk to me?) 07:13, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
SBST 2.0 is still SBST by right, and APAD is still recognizing it as one same scheme under the same scheme name. This has been in effect when the brand rebranding happens last year. The "2.0" thing is not a full renaming to consider as "different naming".
In fact, it is more proper to refer this article, which is meant to tell buses serving scheme name as branding may differ from time to time but the skeleton scheme may remain, like how JB only gets the BAS.MY branding after a year when the branding starts in Melaka (and even that, SBST in Melaka does not start under MyBas but rather SBST Melaka). Using just the brand is not exactly accurate in this situation, as not all buses under SBST serves the BAS.MY name all the time.
In some cases, branding is used when we go through specific areas, or scopes that is larger or smaller than the article subject. See how Rapid Bus has its own article alongside a larger Rapid KL brand or a more specific Rapid Penang. Or in broader example, PLUS Expressways goes to the company that handle the highway, rather than the highway itself which is named North-South Expressway (Malaysia), and some expressways article are not known as their own brand either but what their official name carries (Linkedua is Second Link Expressway, KESAS is Shah Alam Expressway and so on).

I wish to clarify that "SBST 2.0" has not been implemented (as BAS.MY Kuantan is yet to launch), so no name change (if there are plans for such a rename) has taken effect yet. Given this, this can be revisited if APAD does rename the scheme in the future, so yea "SBST" works fine for the time being. You are correct that the branding of SBST has changed over time (from myBAS to BAS.MY for most cities that were previously under myBAS, except for SBST Melaka to BAS.MY Melaka).
Would it be correct for me to believe that you would support e.g "BAS.MY Ipoh" as the title for a more specific article about the SBST scheme in Ipoh?
For what its worth, I'm still undecided on whether to have (a) one article covering every city with a SBST scheme (i.e everything would be covered in the main Stage Bus Service Transformation article) or (b) each city's SBST scheme should have its own article (e.g "BAS.MY Ipoh" for an article covering the SBST scheme as implemented in Ipoh). This would also cover Rapid Kuantan's impending discontinuation and replacement with BAS.MY Kuantan; (a) would mean merging Rapid Kuantan into the SBST article, while (b) would mean renaming the article into "BAS.MY Kuantan". =JaventheAldericky= (Would you like to talk to me?) 08:22, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, using the brand in each respective area page would work.
For Kuantan case we need to see how much the revamp might change, and how Rapid Kuantan page would exist. I will not exactly recommend merging or removing Rapid Kuantan as it is a legacy of Rapid Bus/Prasarana itself and the operator of BAS.MY in Kuantan is not them to begin with. Different case from other cities where they are a brand new system in their own area or in Kota Bharu where it takes over the pre-existing MRD brand that is not under SBST. This "legacy" thing would also apply to Panorama Melaka case, if they were to have their own page as SBST Melaka takes over most of the pre-existing routes under them. Xcelonesix (talk) 08:45, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Since Prasarana did not submit a bid for the tender to operate BAS.MY Kuantan, barring any unforeseen issues, they won't be operating BAS.MY Kuantan. Your suggestion to keep Rapid Kuantan as-is alongside a new BAS.MY Kuantan article might make things slightly awkward, but it could work by having them link to each other.
Panorama Melaka has no article of its own, so I feel that any information about Panorama Melaka would be better suited for the "BAS.MY Melaka" article (in which case "Panorama Melaka" would become a redirect to "BAS.MY Melaka"), since information on Panorama Melaka's former routes is hard to find. =JaventheAldericky= (Would you like to talk to me?) 09:10, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not awkward actually, an operator page and a service page can co-exist. Just like how we have a page of Rapid KL and their own train lines respectively.
Rapid Kuantan is an operator page, while MY BAS Kuantan is a service page. A service can be included in an operator page but not vice versa, and when it comes to existance priority the operator page will continue to exist alongside new service page. Same goes to Panorama vs Basmy Melaka, both can coexist because ultimately both are separate things (one is an (ex) operator, another is a service).
In the future lets say any of the BASMY service changed operator and the operator has their own page, the old operator page will continue to exist along with the service page. That's how it works. Xcelonesix (talk) 10:01, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thanks for your feedback. =JaventheAldericky= (Would you like to talk to me?) 10:07, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have sent you a note about a page you started
