Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in James E. Fitzsimmons, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. - FlightTime (open channel) 14:29, 12 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Belmont Oaks distance

[edit]

Hi, Xavier Newcombe. I see you recently made an edit to Belmont Oaks in which you updated the distance of the race: [1].

Unfortunately it seems that the facts in the article are now somewhat confused. According to the infobox, the distance is 1+316 miles, which the {{convert}} template is converting to 10 furlongs (but 10 furlongs is 1+14 miles, not 1+316 miles). And according to the second sentence of the introduction, the distance is "a mile and one-sixteenth".

So we have three different distances here: 1+316 miles, 10 furlongs, and "a mile and one-sixteenth". I don't know enough about the race to understand which is correct, and I can't easily find a reliable source. Can you help to clarify the situation here? Ideally we should be citing one or more reliable sources for the distance. —Bkell (talk) 22:23, 14 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

California Cup Derby moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to California Cup Derby. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. harrz talk 15:48, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Insert your reason to be unblocked here Xavier Newcombe (talk) 16:58, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I assume your statement below is your request(it should be where the words "insert your reason to be unblocked here" are). In order to look into this, we need to know what your IP address is. It should appear in the message that you see. If you do not want to post it publicly, you may use WP:UTRS to make a private unblock request. 331dot (talk) 22:45, 18 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I already submitted info on this problem. I have no idea how I got blocked or anything about my I.P. address. Somebody can use my I.P. address? Please advise. Xavier Newcombe (talk) 17:06, 18 July 2025 (UTC) ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++[reply]

Accept reason:

I checked the supposed infraction and it was done by a Mobile editor. I do not own a cellphone. I have Norton 360 security. I've always assumed it would prevent whatever was wrong, and have to believe stealing my I.P. address would be one of them. Xavier Newcombe (talk) 11:15, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If this is not fixed immediately, then notify Wikipedia authorities that the $170 I donated, of which the very recent $120 was specifically requested by Wikipedia to be monthly rather than immediate full donation, as I did before, will be blocked by my bank.Xavier Newcombe (talk) 11:31, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Threats like this are intolerable. Don't make them again. Your donations have absolutely nothing to do with blocks or editing. Make your donation or don't make your donation, it has nothing to do with any IP address blocks and will categorically not sway any admin behaviour. --Yamla (talk) 11:44, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

IP block exempt

[edit]

I have granted your account an IP block exemption. This will allow you to edit the English Wikipedia through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions. Inappropriate usage of this user right may result in revocation. I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Yamla (talk) 11:44, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I just had my Internet Provider change my I.P. Address. Hopefully that resolves the problem. Thanks fr your help. Xavier Newcombe (talk) 12:12, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It might very well! In any case, you should be free of IP blocks for the next three months regardless. Happy editing! --Yamla (talk) 12:19, 10 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Xavier Newcombe

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Sariel Xilo, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Icecapade, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Sariel Xilo}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Deletion discussion about Icecapade

[edit]

Hello Xavier Newcombe, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Icecapade, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Icecapade.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Sariel Xilo}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:51, 18 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
