Award removals
[edit]In relation to the discussions here and here, it seems you are up against a few things. First, there are some editors telling you that the awards are non-notable. Notability is strictly about determining whether a particular topic (or subject) merits having its own article on Wikipedia. So if you were trying to create an article about the award in question, then the Notability guideline would definitely come into play. However, when it comes to content within an article, Notability usually has nothing to do with that (and I say usually for a reason, more on that later). For article content, the primary concerns are WP:V, WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, and WP:NOT. The secondary concerns are WP:CITE, WP:RS, and a few others we don't need to get into here.
So what does this mean for your situation? So let's say you are trying to include content in an article about a verifiable award that meets all the primary requirements. You should generally be in the right to do so, even if it doesn't pass the requirements for Notability. Not everything that qualifies for article content will qualify for article creation.
With that said, there are some exceptions to be aware of. The first is one you are probably well aware of by now, which is lengthy standalone lists. Notability can be used as a requirement, and that is covered at WP:NLIST. The WP:FILM project has grown wary of WP:SPAM and WP:INDISCRIMINATE information making its way into random film lists, such as accolade lists, which is why the film guideline itself has become so heavy-handed with detail over the years. An award shouldn't be required to have an article on Wikipedia in EVERY situation, but in some situations, that may be a reasonable requirement. Another exception can be significance which falls under WP:DUE. You may be expected to demonstrate this is not some small and obscure award, or that the entity handing it out is well-known and/or respected in the film & entertainment industry. Significance matters.
If you can demonstrate that with detailed coverage in multiple reputable sources, then with or without a Wikipedia article, the award should likely be accepted. I don't plan to get involved in your specific situation, but this is how you should approach the situation. Hope it helps. Don't forget to review your options at WP:DR and truly consider moving onto other articles and issues if things don't go your way. Our time is better spent improving Wikipedia than it is getting bogged down on one specific thing. You can always come back to it months or years down the road to see if things have changed. --GoneIn60 (talk) 21:04, 26 April 2025 (UTC)

- You are quite welcome. Sorry for the novel, but that's why I wanted to bring it here instead of overtaking the discussion at the MOS talk page. Cheers! -- GoneIn60 (talk) 22:25, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
