Follow-up on Draft:Superbet rejection

[edit]

Hello, I hope you don't mind me reaching out. I recently resubmitted the Superbet draft, which has been fully rewritten and now relies solely on high-quality, independent secondary sources (e.g. Bloomberg, The Guardian, The Recursive, Economedia). The promotional tone was removed, and the structure was condensed and neutral. I noticed the draft was declined again with the standard notability message. If you had a chance to review the updated version, I’d be grateful for any specific feedback or guidance, particularly if there are still areas where the notability criteria are not met. Thanks for your time and contributions! Contributor Marius (talk) 07:31, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Contributor Marius: I don't mind you reaching out. The version I reviewed was the latest version, which is also the current version as the draft has not been modified since my review. I left a comment explaining that the new version is certainly better with regard to its structure and neutrality, but the key issue that led to it being declined is that the subject does not appear to meet the notability criteria for corporations as much of the news coverage about the company appears to be routine or trivial. As past reviewers mentioned, things like investments secured, acquisitions, mergers, etc. are considered trivial as they are listed at WP:CORPTRIV, and this is currently much of what the draft consists of. This is why even though the outlets cited (Bloomberg, The Guardian, etc) are good quality sources which are good to use for verifying facts, the coverage is not in-depth enough to establish notability.
I would add that it is not common for a page about a company to have a "Corporate Governance" or "Social and Strategic Initiatives" section; these are the sorts of things you would find on a company's website, but in most cases you wouldn't find that on a Wikipedia article, as a Wikipedia page about the company should focus more on why the company matters. I would probably merge the 1-2 sentence long recognition sentence into the history section and focus on expanding it and finding some other thing that makes the page notable.
All corporation articles have a history section, but different corporation articles will have a different second thing that helps flesh out the page. For some it'll be a section about particular products, services, or subsidiaries made notable through coverage in reliable sources, for others it might be a legal disputes section. For some, it might be some sort of criticisms and controversies section. Expanding the page with more non-trivial information would certainly improve its chances of passing a future AfC review, but I can't say for sure that this topic is in fact notable enough for this to be possible.

Hi, Vanilla Wizard, thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed response, it’s genuinely appreciated. I understand now that while the structure and tone are on the right track, the main issue remains the lack of in-depth, non-trivial coverage about the company itself. Your explanation about what distinguishes notable corporate articles (e.g. legal cases, product innovation, industry impact, etc.) is really helpful and gives me a clearer framework for identifying what might be missing. I’ll hold off on further submissions for now and focus on looking for stronger secondary sources or developments that could better meet the notability guidelines.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply, this was very constructive! Contributor Marius (talk) 08:55, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
