Re:NJ Transit Bus Routes 100-199
[edit]Hi
I'm replying a message on my talk page. I did those edits since they are also active on the other NJT Route articles (namely the 1-99 and 300-399 articles; plus I did it on some WMATA articles as well). However I failed to see what you wrote about the typical commute pattern and I did not see any previous edits. Plus I was rushing the articles a little so I didn't add a summary on why I changed it. I'm sorry for failing to update the summary as a result.
I did feel the direction of travel was important since saying "Weekday Rush Hour Only" was not sufficient enough for people to see if the route goes one way or another. I didn't actually see on the 130-139 routes that you wrote some service notes on it. If you feel the direction of travel is not necessary then it's fine to leave it as is. - Hi,
- The reason that is the case for the 1-99 and 300-399 routes is because those are mostly intrastate services which are not all feeding into an obvious central point. New Jersey is part of the NY metro area, but there are many different less obvious metro areas within New Jersey itself, and in cases where both endpoints of the route are equally important in their own right, the waters are further muddled. Also, those routes have far fewer rush hour-oriented service patterns (again, by virtue of being intrastate services), so it clutters up the article a lot less.
- Furthermore, for the 300-399 routes in particular those are even more dispersed across the state, with some feeding into New York, some feeding into Philadelphia, and others staying in New Jersey; it therefore doesn't make sense to say "routes feed into either New York or Philly, take your pick."
- Anyway, thanks for taking the time to respond. Please do take your time next time you edit these articles. Smartopedia (talk) 19:58, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
