Reporting bot for "Wikipedia:Database reports/Long stubs" report
[edit]Minor GAR-helper bug
[edit]Hi! Sorry if you are busy, this is just minor, but normally, when you enter a non-GA, it doesn't show the GAR button. However, when in a Disambiguation page, it does show the button, which shouldn't happen. Again, this is minor, but I thought it would be worth reporting. Thanks in advance! - From what I see, GAR button is shown on all articles and talk pages. The script doesn't try to check if it's a GA. – SD0001 (talk) 16:06, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- Huh... Must be my computer lagging or something. Sorry if I disturbed a bit... Earth605 (talk) 16:13, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
A beer for you!

I found out this morning that {{Database report}} has won the 2025 Coolest Tool Award. Big congrats and well deserved! And it happened after just my second annual nomination. :) Using this tool has saved me the very large amount of time it would have taken to relearn the coding necessary to write bots to achieve the same results this template provides. The hardest part has been writing the SQL, time-consuming enough, but that has been the only true constraint for me, which at this point, isn't much of one, as I've rebuilt a skill and learned a lot more about the wiki database. I really can't thank you enough for a tool that has helped me gain and provide more insight into WikiProject-wide issues and contributions. Cheers! Stefen 𝕋owers among the rest! Quick suggestion for your script
[edit]Hey SD0001! Thanks for writing the PR helper script, which I just installed today. A nice quality-of-life improvement would be adding the newly created review page to the user's watchlist, which doesn't seem to happen automatically. Your other similar scripts might benefit from a similar change. Let me know what you think! —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 22:42, 12 August 2025 (UTC)

An urgent reminder on DYK helper
[edit]Hope you don't mind, but stopping by with a reminder you need this to take care of ASAP, since your self-imposed deadline passed by two months. Users are still submitting DYKs without the nom article bolded (in violation of WP:DYKMOS) and I'm still spotting minor errors to fix at DYK noms; one of them (without the nom even linked) is almost a month old. These fixes shouldn't take long. ミラP@Miraclepine 16:07, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
shortdescs-in-category.js
[edit]Thank you for making User:SD0001/shortdescs-in-category.js; I like it a lot. However, it fails to distinguish cases where the short description is intentionally none from cases where the short description template is genuinely missing. Could you modify the script to fix that? — LucasBrown 06:03, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
HotArticlesBot
[edit]THe bot appears to have gone down on 27 August and appears to have stopped working. As the (only active) bot operator can you see whats going on? Lavalizard101 (talk) 11:37, 30 August 2025 (UTC)
- @SD0001: I second this plea. Every morning I check two in particular (Horse breeds & Equine) and they both quit updating a week ago. ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 13:02, 3 September 2025 (UTC)
- It appears the bot has been struck by a database schema change. This problem wouldn't go away on restarts - it will need a code fix and I'm not sure if I even have access to update its code. Coincidentally though, I have been working on another user request to make {{database report}} extensible which among other things will enable replacing hot article lists (with no user facing changes - just that a different bot will update the report). I'll try to work on this tonight. – SD0001 (talk) 16:45, 3 September 2025 (UTC)

- Just noting that DumbBOT went inactive on this same day, it might have been some system-wide changes that are impacting bots that work with the WMF server. Liz Read! Talk! 01:01, 4 September 2025 (UTC)
