  • I need help....

    [edit]

..with making User:Huldra/David Grossman (geographer) "publishable". I have just used bing.translate on the he.wp article about the subject. I need help to add the sources, (or cut out what isn't sourced). The reason I want his article, is that he is used extensively on en.wp (ok, ok, most of those sources have been added by User:Tombah and his socks..:/) ...but I would still like to wiki link his article, cheers, Huldra (talk) 23:51, 22 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

That looks like a useful article. I will look at it, and compare it with the Hebrew original. And I'll see how I can help with sourcing. Nudge me if I don't get back to you soon about this. RolandR (talk) 01:11, 23 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The translation looks mainly reasonable. "The gutter" should be translated as "Nahal Marzeva", or "the Marzeva valley". "Nahal army" should be simply "Nahal".
You didn't translate the list of publications. Few of these seem to be in English, but it is difficult to research this because of the confusion with the much better-known novelist of the same name.
You didn't include all footnotes, but I have tried to find English equivalents for all. I include just bare urls; you will need to format them better.
    1 - Probably this https://geoenv.biu.ac.il/en/node/1047
    2 - https://www.magnespress.co.il/en/contributor/דוד_גרוסמן
3 - https://www.biupress.co.il/index.php?dir=site&page=author&op=item&cs=237&language=heb&language=eng This has no content; the Hebrew original has some biographic data, but this seems to be copied from the Hebrew Wikipedia article (or vice versa)
    4 - Seems to be https://www.academia.edu/106559698/חקר_המרחב_הערבי_הכפרי_במפנה_הדורות_ההתיישבות_הערבית_המחודשת_באזור_השרון_כמקרה_בוח_The_Study_of_the_Arab_Countryside_throughout_the_Generations_The_Arab_Settlement_in_the_Sharon_Region_as_a_Case_Study

7 - https://www.biupress.co.il/index.php?dir=site&page=author&op=item&cs=237 A slightly different address, but content in both English and Hebrew identical to footnote 3 above

9 - Leads to a self-published book, "As If Eighty Years Had Not Passed - the story of Rivka Shorek and her family history". I can't find any reference to this on Google, but there is a documentary apparently based on it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDU3XH0oFps . I don't plan to watch all 46 minutes to find out if or how this is relevant.

Thge remaining refs are to the untranslated publications section.
I hope this is helpful; let me know if I can help any further. RolandR (talk) 17:18, 27 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
