Your draft biography of Philip E. Cryer
[edit]Hello RPK2000! I see that you have created a draft article on Philip E. Cryer in your sandbox. I am surprised that an article had not already been created on Dr. Cryer. Thanks for creating a draft article. I've made a few edits to the draft, adding a few citations. In reading a few the citations, I see that there are still some areas that can be expanded, including his undergraduate education and his service in the U.S. Navy. — ERcheck (talk) 04:02, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you I fully agree with you. I'm sending it for review since we worked closely together and wrote a critical article that explained how beta blockers are helpful in many cardiac conditions associated with increased release of these enzymes. This led to saving many many lives and is still standard of care.
- He is largely responsible for the background of that and was supposed to be nominated for lasker and Nobel. As all scientist, he was extremely modest.
- This is my very first attempt to write an article obviously assisted with AI so I seek you and others guidance as I learned the process
- Thank you so much. This may be fun.! RPK2000 (talk) 09:45, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- @RPK2000 - FYI, Wikipedia frowns on content (both articles and talk page responses) being created with AI. Please read WP:LLM — ERcheck (talk) 17:58, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- Will do thanks!!! RPK2000 (talk) 22:19, 13 November 2025 (UTC)

- One more question. Now that you're going to edit it how does it get independently reviewed for publication will you go forward and publish it if it meets with Wikipedia criteria? RPK2000 (talk) 15:14, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- @RPK2000 - The preferred location for draft articles is draft space. In draft space, it is more likely that you will get others to assist on improving a draft article. Wikipedia is a collaborative endeavor, so expect others to edit articles you create. (Given the topic, I felt compelled to make some edits.) Nevertheless, the page can still be reviewed from either location. Would you like to have the page moved to draft space? — ERcheck (talk) 18:01, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for your guidance and I did a granular review of everything for accuracy and rewrote everything
- Yes, please move it to that draft space for objective look at this article and I'll try to follow it there to learn more about the processes
- Again, thank you for your guidance. I'm trying to learn the culture. RPK2000 (talk) 22:19, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- @RPK2000: - The draft has been moved to Draft:Philip E. Cryer. — ERcheck (talk) 23:06, 13 November 2025 (UTC)

Copyrighted photo
[edit]You recently added a photo (File:Philip cryer2.png) to Draft:Philip E. Cryer , which you uploaded to Wiki Commons as "own work". Unless you took the photograph/own the rights to the photograph, it will be speedy deleted. (It has been nominated for deletion on Commons). See Wikipedia's policy on copyright violations - taken very seriously both on English Wikipedia and Wiki Commons. (Both have slightly different policies on fair use, but copyrights rules are basically the same.) — ERcheck (talk) 19:26, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- I had a lot of trouble with the photo, so thank you for monitoring me and notify me of the unintended violation. The photo is from a public website, but I couldn’t figure out how to handle the licensing, so I added a disclaimer. Could you please delete it and either upload it correctly or let me know the step-by-step process? https://endocrinology.wustl.edu/files/2017/09/philip-cryer-md-750.jpg
- The article is coming along, but still needs audits for every reference. RPK2000 (talk) 19:44, 15 November 2025 (UTC)
- @RPK2000 - Photos from public websites (exceptions would be US Government sites) are still copyrighted and not allowed; there is no "correct" way to do it. I cannot delete it as I am not an admin on Wiki Commons. — ERcheck (talk) 00:14, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- I was able to delete it. I have requested permission from the WEB site (Wash U) to use the photo formally. There is a process for them to approve. What is next step for the page ? Best RPK2000 (talk) 07:20, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- @RPK2000 - Wiki Commons has their own set of rules. If the copyright holder releases the photo in the [Commons:Licensing#Material_in_the_public_domain public domain], it can uploaded. There are also other acceptable licenses, but essentially the photo has to be able to be freely used and modified by anyone. (I've never pursued getting permission for a copyrighted photo). — ERcheck (talk) 13:11, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- The references and awards sections still need some objective review and editing to ensure they meet Wikipedia’s sourcing and neutrality standards. Once those are finalized, what are the next steps toward publication? Since I have disclosed a conflict of interest—I knew Dr. Cryer and worked with him—I want to make sure I follow the correct process. My goal is simply to document his work, contributions, and impact on the field, which have been overlooked. What should I do next?
- (And thank you for your patience.) RPK2000 (talk) 23:44, 16 November 2025 (UTC)
- @RPK2000 - I think it would be worthwhile to expand the "Career" section with dates, etc. Also, add more details about his education, etc. There are some of those details in the citations.
- On your part, I recommend reviewing a few Wikipedia biographies on academics/researchers of same/near same caliber. Not at all of them are well-written, but it might give you inspiration for edits. — ERcheck (talk) 00:12, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi hope you are well. I got this letter below from Wash U where the image is hosted, and it was sent to Permisson-en@wikimedia.org: Also, the image was orphaned and will be deleted.
- Do I need to do anything about having it deleted by a bot
- Will the letter handle the issue of copyright?
