Reverting Edits

[edit]

I encountered the Dubai Mallathon page, and I discovered very quickly that the page was rough around the edges.

I started by correcting a sentence that sounded very clumsy. It was not a well written sentence.

I then spent some time researching the race, and I discovered that this is the first year that the race occurred. But the Dubai Mallathon doesn’t refer to one specific location; it refers to a series of 9 races happening within Dubai. I was in the process of adding this information and referencing it when you reverted it.

I am hoping you will undo this so I can continue my editing. I am only hoping to make Wikipedia a more informative place, as you are.

I have rechecked the page and found that it is already in good shape. No major changes seem necessary. However, if anyone wishes to add information stating that all members are from Dubai, please ensure that a reliable source is provided and cited with a proper reference. Per WP:V and WP:RS, unsourced content should not be added.

Respectfully, I disagree. Have you read the page? There is important information missing, and there is a lot of meaningless content within the page.
What is your opposition to me improving this page? It clearly needs it. ElementalDusts (talk) 05:59, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I say a lot. There are a few sentences that are unneeded. ElementalDusts (talk) 06:00, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Improve but use a proper refrence and source Orthodox Yash (talk) 06:09, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from YBZadeh (18:21, 1 September 2025)

[edit]

Hi Orthodox Yash, thanks for taking the time to mentor. I have a published paper in a high-ranking peer-reviewed journal. In fact this is the premier journal in the domain of education (Academy of Management Learning and Education). It is common to have a multi-year review process with multiple rounds of reviews in such journals. This was our case. In this paper, we find concreate evidence that cultural diversity has a positive effect on teaching evaluation. As such this paper has implications to topics related to diversity and those related to teaching evaluations. I tried referring to this paper in a few relevant entries but I am facing some resistance from editors telling me that I have a conflict of interest and that the evidence is not strong enough and there needs to be a secondary source. Please advise! --YBZadeh (talk) 18:21, 1 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi YBZadeh, thanks for reaching out and for sharing details about your work. Congratulations on publishing in a high-ranking journal. However, when it comes to adding your own paper to Wikipedia, there are two important policies to keep in mind:
  • **Conflict of interest (COI):** As the author of the paper, you have a COI, and editors will generally expect that you avoid directly adding your own work to articles. Instead, you can suggest it on the article’s talk page for review by independent editors.
  • **Reliable secondary sources:** Even if your paper is peer-reviewed and high quality, Wikipedia prefers *secondary sources* (e.g., reviews, meta-analyses, or other independent scholarly discussions) to establish weight and context. Primary sources can be cited, but they usually need to be supplemented with independent commentary.
What you can do: if you believe your paper is relevant, you may propose specific wording and citations on the relevant article’s talk page (using {{request edit}} to flag the COI). Other editors can then review and decide whether it should be added.
In summary, your paper may well be valuable, but for inclusion, it’s best supported by independent secondary sources and should be suggested rather than directly added. Hope this helps!

Question from Tshaki (12:05, 2 September 2025)

[edit]

Hii i want to sell organs of my self --Tshaki (talk) 12:05, 2 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tshaki, I need to be clear here — Wikipedia cannot provide help with requests like selling organs. That kind of activity is both unsafe and illegal in most places. If you are experiencing distress or difficulties, please consider reaching out to a trusted professional or a local support service for help. For Wikipedia-related questions, feel free to ask here, but anything related to personal harm or illegal activity is not something we can assist with
In simple language, if its a joke dont do these types of jokes, this can give you irl problem
