Introduction to contentious topics

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. Heated rhetoric

I came across this comment by you while investigating Pyramid09's edits. The comment is not appropriate, and uses unnecessarily heated language to criticize others' edits. Had you been made aware of the PIA CTOPs regime prior to that, I would have considered a block for failure to uphold civility expectations. As it is, you were not aware of the heightened restrictions at the time, and the incident is stale at nearly 2 months of age. If you take issue with other editors' editing, especially in contentious topics, do not hit them with invective on their talk page--keep your cool, discuss it with them if possible, and escalate it to WP:AE if necessary. signed, Rosguill talk 17:22, 6 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
