Your submission at Articles for creation: Katsuo Watanabe (October 25)
[edit]
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). - Can you please clarify a few points as I am unable to as for help since the precise failings are not not clear to me from the above review.
- 1. "they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published". While the mentions in Blackbelt Magazine and the SAF website are indeed "passing", the USJF nomination article (that is unrelated to myself) is indeed significant. In the world of Judo any 8th Dan nomination is considered quite significant much less founding of a Yudanshikai (regional association responsible for organizing meets, clinics, examinations, and contestant seeding).
- 1. "reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people)" The sources provided are independent of the subject and and fall within the "General notability guideline" as I read them.
- 1. "Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added". Can you kindly elaborate exactly how the provided sources do not meet the notability criteria? If more are needed, how many? Is there any objective criteria you can give me.
- I will update with more citations but I would add that there a numerous less notable Martial Artists with dedicated pages. Nytomiki (talk) 19:40, 25 October 2025 (UTC)

The comment the reviewer left was:
Please try to add sources that can meet WP:GOLDENRULE -- ideally, we would want to have a minimum of three that are independent, reliable, secondary, and significant for an article to stand.
