- Will there be another meeting? I am very interested in attending. Brynnmmiller (talk) 23:16, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi -- I would love to become an active MN wiki community member, but just had a new baby a few weeks ago and couldn't get myself out of the house this last weekend. Please keep me in the loop for future meetups! Mischiefmuse (talk) 15:14, 8 April 2025 (UTC)
Query about Minnesota Wikipedia Day meetup
[edit]I'll be attending the Toronto Wikipedia Day meetup this coming weekend, and we are noticing a LOT of newly created accounts signing up for this. I see that the signup list for the Minnesota event similarly had a lot of new accounts signed up. Did many of them come? Just trying to gauge whether we should make a point of focusing on new editor stuff, or whether there was something of a prank happening here. Risker (talk) 02:54, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- It's not a prank, we've been using the m:CentralNotice banner, in this case coordinated with Wikimedia Canada. A similar thing was done for last year's events. Expect some but obviously not all of the newbies to attend, and Happy Wikipedia Day! Pharos (talk) 15:30, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- My goodness! It serves me right for going into semi-Wikiretirement. I missed the event by a hair! I hope it was well attended and happy Wikipedia Day! -- Dolotta (talk) 01:47, 16 January 2025 (UTC)
MN wanted pages
[edit]I started a list subpage for WPMN to collect redlinks for topics I think can help improve coverage. Please add things to the page and feel free to edit the article name or any of the other content. Part of my idea is that it can be used for edit-a-thons in the future. DYK nomination for Big Stone County Museum?
[edit]Hey Myotus! I hope the sunny May is treating you well.
I saw you started the article on the Big Stone County Museum & was wondering if you planned to nominate it for WP:DYK.
Let me know if you'd like me to do so on your behalf! = paul2520 š¬ 19:38, 8 May 2025 (UTC)
- I don't do nominations myself. I haven't taken the time to learn how to pursue them. I feel challenged enough by navigating Wikipedia's other processes I think my head would explode. š¤Æ
- If you would like to pursue that that would be wonderful! What do you think the DYK question would be? Myotus (talk) 13:26, 9 May 2025 (UTC)
- @Myotus: I'm thinking:
- [Did you know...] that the Big Stone County Museum preserves an historic octagonal one-room schoolhouse (pictured)?
- One issue I just noticed: reference 5 (link) seems dead. Since you just started the article, I'm wondering if there was an issue pasting the URL. Are you able to fix this? = paul2520 š¬ 18:05, 11 May 2025 (UTC)
- I have updated it with a live link. I also have added more information about the school including its delisting from the National Register of Historic Places due to its being moved. Myotus (talk) 16:06, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, Myotus! See the nomination here: Template:Did you know nominations/Big Stone County Museum. I'll keep an eye on it, and recommend you do the same. = paul2520 š¬ 00:49, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks! I will watch it. If it gets featured I will get screenshot of it and feature it in the Local History News newsletter. I think there will be a lot of head scratching by local museums. Myotus (talk) 22:52, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
