Your Recent Edits
[edit]I have looked at your edit history and see that after making just 5 edits in 2020 you made over 450 edits in the last 36 hours, covering about 375 pages. Of these, about half were creating talk pages for articles and about half were on articles, in which you blanked large sections of several articles including Grant Thornton LLP (about 60% blanked), Endeavor (company) (about 25% blanked) and Silver Lake (investment firm) (91% blanked).
I've already explained at the AfD for Grant Thornton why I think your edits were problematic, and I don't intend to go through the others except to say that this seems to be an odd editing pattern for a relatively inexperienced editor, and that a quick look suggests you have removed reliable sources in addition to primary ones. May I ask what your plan is as an editor? Even if at the end of the day your goal is to help the project by removing problematic content, blanking 90% of a page all at once is quite disruptive.
Can I also ask if you have ever edited under another account? Again, this is an odd editing pattern for someone with so few edits prior to yesterday.
Looking forward to your response. Oblivy (talk) 08:37, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Oblivy: Not a newbie actually, I've been editing for about 7 years anonymously. FYI, not all of those edits were in one day, I've been logged in for a couple weeks.
- I laid out my reasons for nominating the Grant Thornton page in the AfD; its fine if consensus ends up going the other way.
- If any of my edits seem wrong to you, be bold about reverting them. If the AfD closes keep, a lot of the cruft on the page should go. There isn’t any reason to cite press releases or the company’s own website and PDFs. 74.77.132.125 (talk) 22:35, 11 September 2025 (UTC)
- I stand by my edits to those other pages. If you look at the old versions, they were full of primary sources and WP:SERIESA problems. I'll move a little slower in the future, especially before nominating pages for deletion. The Grant Thornton LLP page seemed to mostly be routine coverage or bad sources, but I'll respect a consensus to keep it. The last thing I want is to waste anyone else's time. - OK, 450 for an account with only a handful of edits several years ago is still a lot -- see https://xtools.wmcloud.org/ec/en.wikipedia.org/Messenger-boyyIf you really didn't want to waste anyone's time you could have withdrawn the nomination once you were called out for the inappropriate edits and misleading edit summaries. A bit too late for that now, but maybe reflect on this. And use edit summaries - they are there for a reason. Oblivy (talk) 01:14, 12 September 2025 (UTC)
