Question from SJH55 (23:39, 24 April 2025)

[edit]

Hey LR.127, noobie here. I just added a row to a table but am struggling to understand (without having read the "Intro to editing with VisualEditor" material) how to insert (append?) a supporting reference ... without making a mess of the existing references. Any tips, even if only a link to the relevant "how to" material? --SJH55 (talk) 23:39, 24 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I haven't done this exact thing before, but it looks like you can just place your mouse cursor where you want the reference to go, then press the "Cite" button in the Visual Editor. Hope this helps. If you have the specific location and the specific reference you want to add, let me know and I might be able to do it for you. LR.127 (talk) 01:59, 25 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

About the declined requests

[edit]

I don't think it was fair to decline these two redirect requests I'm about to tell you. For the Vultures 1 request, I was completely accurate on the titles. Both Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign made that album. For the Biterphobia song by Eminem and Soul Intent request, it's not mentioned, but the song actually exists if you look it up elsewhere on the Internet. Kjjj6uhhhhh (talk) 02:33, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I admit I was a bit sloppy for the first request - I think I was caught up on the stylization of Ty Dolla Sign/$ign and thought they might be too unlikely to exist. As for the Biterphobia song: because it's not mentioned in the target article, it wouldn't be a useful redirect just because it exists. This is based on previous precedent where "not mentioned in target article" is a common decline reason.
Feel free to resubmit those requests and I'll let another reviewer take a look. I'm always learning. Hope this helps. Cheers :-). LR.127 (talk) 02:46, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from MarkoBrzak (00:26, 1 May 2025)

[edit]

Hi. I'm new to this so I'm not sure if this is wikipedia or wikimedia stuff or where to ask.

On a university wikipedia page there is an image (.svg file) of the Coat of Arms that on one part of the image has white pixels when there should be none (that part of the picture shouldn't exist). Also name of the file was mistakenly named: "Belgrade_University_coa.svg", so it's "coa" instead of "coat".

Now, I wanted to make these quick changes but the current Coat of Arms (the incorrect one) is protected by copyright or fair use stuff etc. It doesn't allow me to edit the file ("You cannot overwrite this file.").

1. Is there a way to change the name of the file? 2. Is there a way to upload the correct Coat of Arms .svg file?

Cheers Marko --MarkoBrzak (talk) 00:26, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! To rename the file (or "move" it to a new name) in order to fix a simple typo, you can request an uncontroversial move at WP:RM/TR.
As for the copyright question and modifying the image itself, you can ask more specialized folks over at WP:IMAGEHELP, I'm not sure how to help with that one, but I hope that noticeboard can assist you better. Hope this helps. Cheers :-). LR.127 (talk) 00:55, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Diligence
Did you really think you could get away with awarding other editors barnstars for helping with short descriptions and not yourself (jk)? Give yourself some love ;). Thanks for helping add short descriptions to Wikipedia articles (and for recognizing other editors for doing the same). GoldRomean (talk) 19:31, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! As stated on your talk page and in the reasoning for deleting your user page, Wikipedia editors do not allow this site to be used as a "web host", or for personal promotion unrelated to Wikipedia. You can find out more about Wikipedia's aim and scope, and what purposes Wikipedia is not meant for. LR.127 (talk) 16:53, 9 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Truthisclear (03:06, 16 May 2025)

[edit]

Dear LR.127, I was just editing random pages, (as I am learning the ropes here) and I came upon a laughable date of birth that has a two year range! Can you please check it out at the article of "Reece Kershaw"? There is definitely important information to add/update there, but I became kind of stuck since I could not verify his date of birth at all. Should this "range" date of birth just be deleted? --Truthisclear (talk) 03:06, 16 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that birth year on the article Reece Kershaw does provide a handy source. In that 2015 article, it says Kershaw was 47 years old. Routine calculations are not considered "original research" and I think it's acceptable to correct the article and say that Kershaw was born in 1968. Hope this helps. Cheers.
