Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... Hello! I'm a volunteer for a nonprofit organization called Random Acts, and I noticed that there wasn't a Wikipedia article for the organization yet. I've been working on a new article, but I want to make sure I'm compliant with Wikipedia's COI guidelines before publishing anything. Once I'm finished with the article draft, what steps should I take to have the article independently reviewed by another editor? Janicehope3 (talk) 22:46, 8 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You are on the right track. Disclosing your connection with your subject should come first and you can do that on your user page, which does not exist yet. One way to make the disclosure would be to simply state what you said here: I am a volunteer for the nonprofit organization [[Random Acts]]. That's all that's needed.
Once you have made a disclosure, you are free to create a draft as best you can. Be sure to cite independent, in-depth journalistic sources that talk about the organization. Do not use anything from the organization itself at this stage: their website, their press releases, or their spokespeople. Once you have satisfied the reviewers that the organization meets the notability criteria that apply to organizations, and they accept the article, it will be possible to make edit requests to add more material or updates. You should not be expecting to edit the article directly once it is in article space. If you start by using the Article Wizard, it should lead you down the correct path to getting your draft reviewed. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:29, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much!! I really appreciate the insights and advice. I will add the disclosure to my page now and will use the Article Wizard once I feel the draft is ready for review. Janicehope3 (talk) 02:33, 9 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
