Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ballia railway station, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Aara and Jaunpur. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, --DPL bot (talk) 07:59, 27 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced additions

[edit]

Please stop adding unsourced content and do blind reverts as you did at List of Indian states and union territories by Human Development Index. If you want to make any changes, do the only the changes intended backed by reliable source(s). It has already been indicated by other users and the section had been tagged appropriately as a speculation. Hence, request you not to indulge in own research and make predictions on the HDI numbers for states based on the country's average given in the source. But, data which is mentioned is old. India Subcontinent (talk) 14:42, 7 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Indian Ballistic Missile Defence Programme, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.  Sumanuil. (talk to me) 09:11, 27 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon You edits added a source that seems corrupted to Indo-Pakistani war of 1971. I have reverted your edits and opened a discussion at Talk:Indo-Pakistani war of 1971#History of soybeans and soyfoods in Southeast Asia (13th century to 2010) as a source.-- Toddy1 (talk) 11:15, 5 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to Nai (caste). Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You are not supposed to edit caste articles as per the new rules on contentious topics; I shall post the notice here. Introduction to contentious topics: new version - minimum 500 edits required

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated as contentious.

When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

You have violated the rules mentioned above by editing the article on Nai (caste)! You may soon be blocked from editing! Ekdalian (talk) 07:29, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

India Subcontinent (talk) 09:11, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Have around 400+ edits! Will you then voluntarily refrain from editing the article so I don't have to impose sanctions on it or you? —C.Fred (talk) 11:08, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
