An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ripple (wine), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fred Sanford.

Outing and the Nine Theses

[edit]

I see you requested protection and Isabelle Belato has fully protected it for 2 days on your preferred version. The protection is certainly justifiable, but I don't want you to get the wrong idea about what the protection on your preferred version means (kind of the opposite of WP:WRONGVERSION) and so I write as an oversighter given your OUTING concerns. If Foo wrote "A U4C member closed the MFD on Larry Sanger's Nine Theses, commenting on how many people had participated", Foo has not outed me or cast aspersions on me. OUTING requires some off-wiki identity to be brought into the equation. Writing about who has edited a particular page or talk page is not OUTING, nor is quoting them but not giving their username or even summarizing their comments in some accurate (even if pointed) way. It could still be an inappropriate personal attack and in the case of the Nine Theses, I am offering no comment on whether or not the labeling of the editor is a personal attack. However, if that is the case there is a remedy short of removal of the entire section and without directly naming who the editor is - some other descriptor could be used. So as the only person who edited multiple times about that paragraph, I would strongly encourage you to start a talk page discussion so consensus could be reached about the disputed paragraph before the protection ends rather than waiting and resuming the editing dispute when protection ends. Please let me know if you have any questions about this. Barkeep49 (talk) 03:08, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The only thing making it my preferred version is the avoidance of POLEMIC issues. Theofunny removed the paragraph twice, the same number of times I removed it, but I will add to the POLEMIC thread on the talk page. Iggy pop goes the weasel (talk) 15:13, 6 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of topic from the Nine Theses talk page

[edit]

Thanks for taking spam seriously and looking into it. However, I believe my reply to Larry’s essay (which you deleted — link) wasn’t spam or promotion of an external site. It was a direct response to Larry’s proposals in his theses. Mentioned by me project offers things like competing articles and article ratings — though not directly on Wikipedia. I think it would be fair to let Larry decide himself whether it’s spam and whether to reply to it.

If needed, I can rephrase my comment and remove the direct link to the project site and keep only to RfC if that goes against the rules, though it feels a bit too strict for user talk pages and might make discussion more cumbersome. Kantakuziv (talk) 23:37, 10 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It is best to keep discussion on this topic at AN. Iggy pop goes the weasel (talk) 14:15, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (User:Larry Sanger/Nine Theses) for a period of 1 month for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Guerillero Parlez Moi 12:13, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This comment reads to me like a tactful admission that you plan on continuing to edit war until you win a content dispute. -- Guerillero Parlez Moi 12:18, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed you only blocked me and not the the others who have been slow edit warring it back in. Edit wars seem to require two parties. Regardless, I'm done with that mess and will not comment or edit there further. Iggy pop goes the weasel (talk) 14:17, 20 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
