Thanks for your message
[edit]I appreciate your message concerning the edit to Larry Wilde. The edit that I reverted was rather mild. Perhaps it was even correct. However, the policy with respect to additions to biographies of living persons are strict. They also require a careful reading of Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and a few related pages. Usually a user can find and cite a reliable, verifiable (publicly available) source concerning relatives of living persons. However, the further one gets from immediate relatives, the more difficult that may be. Due to privacy concerns about individuals who are not otherwise in the public eye, references are needed for relatives. While the edit did not identify anyone specifically, there is also a problem of additions to articles which may be wrong or which are actually insignificant - again without a public source. People claim all the time that they are relatives or friends of the subject of an article. Without a reference, these could be, and sometimes are, hoaxes. Full disclosure: I do leave specifically written messages at times but in this case the message was template. I think those who wrote "level 1" templates did a good job; a reviewer just needs to pick the right one, or a good one. Donner60 (talk) 02:29, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
Linking diffs
[edit]For future reference, I know there are a couple scripts that assist with this, but I am old school and just copy/paste the url from my browser. It may not make the fancy WLs, but it still works fine. ;) - Adolphus79 (talk) 17:50, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! I'm just a duffer around here, picking up little pieces of trash and editing for grammar and usage, so any assistance is welcome. Hiobazard (talk) 17:55, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- I just noticed Help:Diff has all the different ways to link them... - Adolphus79 (talk) 17:59, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
