LIUC (Milan) Educational Project Autumn/Fall 2025
[edit]For the 11th year running, from September - December 2025, we are facilitating an Educational Project by students of LIUC (Milan, Italy), with a course page at: https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/courses/LIUC_-_Universit%C3%A0_Cattaneo/Digital_Technology_(Autumn_2025). These students are new to the Wikipedia platform. They will have completed mandatory WikiEd Training for Students modules and have regular tutor workshops and review meetings during the project. They are also supported with a course website, extensive help resources, class lectures, a detailed project document and intensive tutor feedback via draft Talk pages and in meetings. Note that many of the basic issues with initial draft pages are resolved at draft stage through this intensive and on-going project feedback process. They are learning to edit following Wikipedia rules, with learning and assessment criteria including topic acceptability, content relevance, linking, style/grammar, sourcing, image use and copyright, use of draft Talk pages, and page formatting.
They are open to any advice on improvements of their draft pages in conformity to Wikipedia requirements and guidelines, and any help useful for the enhancement of the page will be gladly accepted. Some of the student User account names will have 'LIUC' in them so be similar. Edits by different users may occaisionally have identical IP addresses due to the use of the university network. These users and draft pages will be listed on the WikiEd dashboard once they get started in mid-September. In past years several of the student team's new pages have been rated B-Class when submitted for review (e.g. Croveo, Curbar Edge). As in the past, we're happy to listen to other editors to quickly resolve any issues if they arise. The supervising tutors are: User:Greentree97 and User:Limelightangel. LLM use on Draft:Caves of Marina di Camerota
[edit]A few concerns about the LIUC WikiEd project.
- There is a very high chance that this draft involved extensive use of LLMs to generate the content in the article. Six of the references have broken links (making this eligible for speedy deletion under G15, which I have not nominated it for at this time, as I prefer to not SD nom WikiEd articles). The draft also contains many signs of LLM-generated content: here is a sample of LLM-style puffery from the Draft:Caves of Marina di Camerota § Paleolithic Virtual Museum (MUVIP) section:
Visitors can select from several discovery paths, each offering a unique perspective on human life during the Paleolithic era.
- User MatteoLIUC has a clear example of LLM-generated content (including markdown and an invalid ISBN) on their user page, for some reason
- Most WikiEd courses provide a template for their students to add to their talk page - here is an example [1]. Is this something that you have available for your class? It helps other editors here to identify that the users are associated with a WikiEd course

- Noted, with thanks. I have raised this with the student users for immediate attention, and they have a review meeting on this very soon. Thanks for the valuable input, and also the advice related to the educational project status banner on their user pages. I placed educational notices on their draft Talk pages (with a link to the WikiEd project page), and they have had detailed and ongoing draft feedback, including on sources and style, also on the draft Talk page. I also got them to post similar on their own user pages - but the approach you propose is clearer and more accessible. The use of generative tools were covered in class and an assessed requirement for consideration in project presentations - which has clearly not been understood to date. We will work with them to address the issues in the draft and are grateful its not yet been flagged for speedy deletion. Limelightangel (talk) 21:51, 28 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Limelightangel Likewise, Draft:Shawn_Merriman_(Ponzi_fraudster) has hallucinated references and LLM-generated prose. Incredibly disappointing and also embarrassing. qcne (talk) 15:01, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
