Hello. I saw your edit to UPS Airlines Flight 2976. However, you didn't cite a source so I've removed that content. I'm just curious as to how you learnt that information. May you say so? Thank you. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 16:52, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oh jeez. I totally forgot to add a citation. It's from planespotters.net: https://www.planespotters.net/airframe/mcdonnell-douglas-md-11-n259up-united-parcel-service-ups/rmnno3 Fowntain (talk) 18:39, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And that's where I suspected you got that information. However, I reckon not to use that source. Planespotters.net has been deemed not reliable from a discussion. (see this, too). Do you have a better source? Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 18:44, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's corroborated by Airfleets.net: https://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-md11-48417.htm Fowntain (talk) 18:55, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry, but that citation isn't any better either. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 18:56, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand where you're coming from, but there simply are no other sources that typically cover this type of airframe history. News outlets or media would also likely source back to these websites as well. Fowntain (talk) 19:04, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
you can see WP:PLANESPOTTERS to understand why source like planespotter and airfleet are unreliable
you have to wait until a reputable source confirms the aircraft as being from HS-TME Stmbus (talk) 19:06, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I would like to highlight that there is no real source of this info other than these community-run sites as logs of aircraft history are typically not kept internationally. Any reputable source would be sourcing their info back from these sites. Fowntain (talk) 19:07, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
See this, those are resources of aircraft registration, etc, etc. If there are no sources, it doesn't give us a good reason to use unreliable sources, in this case: planespotters.net and airfleets.net. Hacked (Talk|Contribs) 19:08, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you that those two sites are unreliable and I am not fighting that, but I disagree with relying solely on government-run sites for registration information as a whole. Some info, like international history, is simply not available on these sites. I really do wish there were some international database where info was fact-checked. :/ Fowntain (talk) 19:14, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In this case, the info can be removed, as I understand the issue. I do think that Planespotters.net has been quite reliable in my own experience and have gotten better with vandalism and incorrect info in recent years but that's a discussion for another time. Fowntain (talk) 19:06, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
any citation from airfleet, planespotter or anything similar are considered not reliable as it is user-generated
they really need to blacklist these source Stmbus (talk) 19:03, 6 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
