I will generally respond here to comments that are posted here, rather than replying via your Talk page (or the article Talk page, if you are writing to me here about an article), so you may want to watch this page until you are responded to, or specifically let me know where you'd prefer the reply.
WELCOME!! Hello, Derek R Bullamore! I want to personally welcome you on behalf of the Wikipedia community. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you haven't already, you can put yourself in the new user log and the list of users so you can be properly introduced to everyone. Don't forget to be bold, and don't be afraid of hungry Wikipedians...there's a rule about not biting newcomers. Some other good links are the tutorial, how to edit a page, or if you're really stuck, see the help pages. Wikipedia is held up by Five Pillars...I recommend reading about them if you haven't already. Finally, it would be really helpful if you would sign your name on talk pages, so people can get back to you quickly. It's easy to do this by clicking the button (next to the one with the "W" crossed out) one from the end on the left. If that's confusing, or if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a ♪ at my talk page (by clicking the plus sign (+) next to the tab at the top that says "edit this page")...and again, welcome!--ViolinGirl♪00:20, 18 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again Derek. This is a gentle nudge to kindly ask you if you might take a look at the Amanda Ghost edit request I posted in December, and if you can, to please implement the changes. If you need any additional information or help from me, I am happy to oblige, just let me know. All the best, and thanks in advance for your help. 80.87.24.205 (talk) 14:09, 17 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi – I noticed you placed a refimprove tag on The Ruts. I've attempted to address the lack of citations (and truth be told, if you check out the talk page, you'll see my concerns with the page given that the preexisting text there was largely copied straight from The Ruts' defunct website bio). If you have the will and time, I would greatly appreciate if you'd give the page a look over and see if it's in decent enough condition to at least remove the tag. Thank you so much! Take care, and I hope you're well :)
(P.S. Please forgive my overuse of semicolons. I tend to overuse them when drafting text, and I realize I forgot to replace quite a few of them with alternative sentence structures. I can remove them if needed.) Afddiary (talk) 20:24, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the delay in replying, but I have been away from home for a few days. I read through the current article and have given it a slight polish. I have assumed good faith in that I have not checked that the references listed actually support the text. Nevertheless you have done a great job and I have therefore removed the refimprove tag. Well done. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 12:05, 22 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what the intent was in this edit, but it appears that you replaced the archive link previously there with the original URL which has been dead for a *long* time and remains so...?
Dear Derek,
Thank you for the article on this blues rock musician. I used it as the basis for the counterpart in the German-language Wikipedia. However, when editing it, I realised that the content had hardly been updated since 2014/2015. I would be delighted if the German version could help refresh the original article. (The awards that Principato received in Germany are still being added). Greetings from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern --Artessa (talk) 13:40, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I would be delighted too. It is not often that I revisit articles that I have 'penned' (unless I find errors). It is not my article as such. All assistance, well intentioned of course, is very welcome. Best wishes. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 13:45, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please don't count on my help (other projects, language barrier). It should only be a hint. And yes, the errors discovered have been corrected in the German text. Otherwise a few things have been added. All the best! --Artessa (talk) 14:11, 1 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I did and found: "Bo Diddley was born...as Ellas Otha Bates...McDaniel eventually adopted him, and he assumed her surname." While he was born Bates, his name was changed to McDaniel very early and he used that legal name his whole life. Read this as an example.
Note that many of his records are credited to "McDaniel",[1] he has children are named "McDaniel"[2] and his grave reads "McDaniel".[3]
That's why I put "McDaniel" in the intro where his legal name goes, and left "Bates" in the Early life" section". — AjaxSmack13:27, 29 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis, usually on a Tuesday.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.
Thanks

Derek, we worked together back in the day—when I was on faculty, and regularly led students contributing to articles—with you characteristically coming in after, and fixing many things we found broken.
Besides a hello, which will unfortunately have to remain relatively anonymous, I wanted to call your attention to the "Controversy..." subsubsection of the Alan Price article, in its Music section, The Animals subsection. That subsubsection content is drawn from a single source, and I think someone who cares and knows about music should have a look, consult other relevant sources, reflect alternative perspectives if available, edit and cite as need be, and then remove my section tag.
Hello again. Sorry for the delay in responding, but real life does get in the way from time to time! My initial reactions here are 1} How many times have I seen squabbling between now old men, about their perceived music-related injusticies in the 1960s, and how these still continue to fester over time; 2) that subsection is undoubtedly WP:UNDUE giving as it does one side the siutation without any WP:BALANCE, which is clearly contrary to Wikipedia's desire for WP:NPOV; and 3) actually the whole piece is misplaced, as it should be (IF anywhere) in the "House of the Rising Sun" article. It is perhaps worth noting that one music journalist wrote "... Price departed (supposedly suffering from aerophobia)... Burton still maintains that Price's departure was because he had taken ownership of the lucrative publishing rights to 'House of the Rising Sun' and was therefore financially secure".[1]
My view is that the subsection should be withdrawn, placed on the song's talk page and... well, let battle commence, if anyone can be bothered. (I grow evermore sceptical of the amount of time any editor spends looking at these 'old timer' article talk pages - although, to be fair, that talk page has seen some action over the years). - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 18:12, 20 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
