Happy editing! Schazjmd (talk) 13:08, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your message on my Talk page. There shouldn't be any unsourced statements in a Wikipedia article, especially in a biography of a living person. So yes, the awards need referencing, and the sentences starting Under his leadership, the one about Rotary, and the paragraph starting At ITC, Roman introduced and led. Two references are dead, one that I looked at doesn't contain the text "Dan Roman" and another just has a passing reference.

As you are the subject of the article - and thank you for disclosing this on the article's Talk page - you will need to request edits on the article's Talk page, rather than editing the article yourself. I will post the conflict of interest guidance below, which explains this. Tacyarg (talk) 22:00, 17 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Tacyarg,
Thank you for your detailed feedback regarding the Dan Roman (businessman) article. I appreciate the time you've taken to review the content and provide guidance on adhering to Wikipedia's standards, particularly concerning biographies of living persons and conflict of interest (COI) policies.
I acknowledge the importance of ensuring that all information in the article is verifiable and supported by reliable sources. I understand that unsourced statements, especially those related to awards and professional achievements, need proper citations. I will review the article to identify such statements and provide appropriate references or suggest their removal if reliable sources cannot be found.
Regarding the COI guidelines, I recognize that, as the subject of the article, I should refrain from directly editing the content. Instead, I will propose any changes or additions on the article's Talk page, using the {{edit COI}} template to request review by independent editors. I will ensure that all suggestions are accompanied by citations from reliable, independent sources, in line with Wikipedia's verifiability and neutrality policies.
Given the complexity of the article and the need for consistent communication, I would greatly appreciate it if you could serve as my primary point of contact for this matter. Having a single, knowledgeable editor to guide me through the process would help maintain clarity and efficiency, and prevent potential confusion from involving multiple volunteers.
I appreciate your assistance and am committed to collaborating constructively to improve the article's quality and compliance with Wikipedia's guidelines.
Best regards,
Dan Nicolae Roman Dan Nicolae Roman (talk) 15:25, 18 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Tacyarg. I will follow your instructions. I will review carefully the article. I have unused relevant references.
e.g. For my awards from Malta Order I have the Number of the award, and the date . In addition I have a mail from the Order that are register in their archives. I have also scans from the diplomas. It is fine this kind of evidences ?
I will come back to you as soon as I can with a proposal. Should I send to you first some references an to let me know if their are acceptable ? Thank you so much . Dan Nicolae Roman (talk) 05:04, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, the best way is to use the edit request wizard to request changes. Then it will be seen by more editors. The sources for the award you mention sound like primary sources and not published; ideally you want a secondary source like a newspaper article, or, failing that, is there an official announcement published? Dear Tacyarg,
I would be grateful if you could please advise whether the following correspondence is sufficient to satisfy Wikipedia’s verifiability requirements for the mention of my decorations under the Order pro Merito Melitensi.
Below is the full exchange with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (latest message first):

Dear Mr. Roman,
I confirm you that the Order of Malta publishes Official Bulletins that include the most important decisions taken by the Government of the Order in the year. Unfortunately, I cannot share with you these issues, as they can only be used internally.
However, I can send you the references to be published on your Wikipedia page:
Bollettino Ufficiale del Sovrano Militare Ordine Ospedaliero di San Giovanni di Gerusalemme, di Rodi e di Malta, Numero Unico, Anno 2011, pag. 25.
I hope this can help you.
With my best regards,

Dear Ms. Gentile,
I would like to sincerely thank you once again for your kind and prompt confirmation of the honors I received under the Order pro Merito Melitensi in 2008 and 2011.
As I am currently working to ensure this information is properly cited on Wikipedia, I kindly ask for your help with an additional matter.
Wikipedia requires information to be supported by publicly accessible sources.
To this end, I would like to ask whether the Sovereign Military Order of Malta publishes any official lists, such as annual reports, bulletins, or registers, that include the names of individuals awarded the Order pro Merito Melitensi.
If such a publication exists and my name is included in it, I would be grateful if you could kindly direct me to it.
This would help meet Wikipedia’s requirement for verifiability through public sources.
Thank you once again for your continued courtesy and support.
With kind regards,
Dr. Dan Roman

Subject: Request for Confirmation of Honors – Order Pro Merito Melitensi
Dear Sir,
I am writing to respectfully request your assistance in confirming two decorations I have received under the Order Pro Merito Melitensi, for the purpose of accurately documenting them in my professional CV.
  1. I was awarded the Cross of Officer of the Order Pro Merito Melitensi on May 26, 2011, under reference number 452/11/eb, signed by the then Grand Chancellor, H.E. Jean-Pierre Mazery.
  2. I had previously received the Cross of the Order Pro Merito Melitensi, for which I retain only the official diploma and do not have the accompanying documentation or reference number.
I would be most grateful if you could:
· Direct me to any publicly accessible source confirming these honors (e.g., a list of recipients from 2011), or
· Provide confirmation by email that these distinctions are officially registered.
I prefer not to submit the original certificates, as I consider them private internal documents.
Thank you very much for your time and kind assistance.
With kind regards,
Dr. Dan Roman Dan Nicolae Roman (talk) 10:31, 22 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
