Your submission at Articles for creation: Sam Sussman (August 16)

[edit]
Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by MCE89 was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
One review of his book is not enough to satisfy Wikipedia's notability criteria for authors. Are there any other reviews or commentary on his work?
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

There's the Kirkus review (https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/sam-sussman/boy-from-the-north-country/), and the Publishers Weekly sources: https://www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/industry-news/publisher-news/article/98250-writers-to-watch-fall-2025.html As well as this Library Journal review: https://www.libraryjournal.com/review/boy-from-the-north-country-1817489
These are three of the most prominent reviewers in the industry. Could you provide some sense of what else I should be looking for that would count as more notable? Daeliro93 (talk) 14:25, 17 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Daeliro93! I'm just leaving a message regarding the copyright on the images you've included on Draft:Sam Sussman and Boy From the North Country. You've indicated that both of these images are CC-BY-4.0 licensed. I can't see any indication at the source that the image of Sussman is CC-licensed, and it seems incredibly unlikely that a Penguin Random House book cover would be CC-BY-4.0. What is your source for believing that these images are available under this licence? MCE89 (talk) 15:18, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don't actually know what the correct licensing on the cover is, but for the portrait I happen to know the photographer and have confirmed. Daeliro93 (talk) 23:57, 16 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you don't know the licensing, please do not indicate that an image is freely licensed. You will need to go to Commons and request deletion of the book cover, as copyrighted images are not allowed on Commons. The good news is that using a book cover complies with Wikipedia's non-free content criteria, so you can upload a copy of the file locally with a non-free use rationale by using the file upload wizard.
For the portrait, you'll need to provide evidence of the free licence. You can do this by pointing to a page stating that the image is available under the CC-BY-4.0 licence, or by getting the photographer to follow the instructions at Commons:Volunteer Response Team to give their permission.
