Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Cosmicomandi. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page AUI (constructed language), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

• avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
• propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);

hmm, well there's obviously a difference between having a biased opinion about something because you're too close to the subject and just being an expert because of unique, familial experience with a unique subject. I'm not sure how to use the "request edit" template, it all seems quite mysterious to me...I can disclose a COI if needed, if it's easy to do; if I include a link to our current website it is for informational purposes Cosmicomandi (talk) 18:59, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, you have a conflict of interest because you were close to the person who invented the language. As for {{request edit}} template, just use it on the talk page with whatever changes you want to make. You know how to reply to a message on your talk page, so you should be able to use the template on the talk page of the article, particularly since I just directly linked the talk page.

Disclosing a conflict of interest is always a good idea, but only required if you're editing Wikipedia as part of your job. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 20:37, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of AUI (constructed language) for deletion
