Octoraro Lodge moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Octoraro Lodge. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability and No WP:SIGCOV. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Викидим (talk) 06:34, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You made a mess out of Northern Tier Articles

[edit]

With your cut and paste moves you made a big mess. Somebody is going to need to do a lot of work to undo the damage. North8000 (talk) 22:09, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I completely forgot about the move process. It’s been a while. I’ve reverted the pages so the talk pages align again. Etaylor128 (talk) 00:05, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What on earth were you trying to do with this move? You really have created a mess. If you think that Sea Base High Adventure should be moved to Sea Base you need to start a requested move. That move would be potentially controversial so you need to develop a consensus. Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 01:23, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Jesus Christ and the same thing at Northern Tier ... @North8000: I've tagged Northern Tier and Sea Base for G6 deletion so that the dab pages can be moved back to their proper titles. I'd appreciate a once-over to make sure I haven't missed anything. Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 01:31, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Hopefully I reverted the pages properly. Etaylor128 (talk) 01:47, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, it should get sorted out soon. You're doing some good work updating Scouting America articles; just make sure you're not being too hasty and creating situations that need to be cleaned up by other editors down the line. If you have any questions, feel free to message me on my talk page :) Lord Bolingbroke (talk) 01:54, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Etaylor128 (talk) 11:19, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I was stating the reality of the situation. That aside, thanks for your work! North8000 (talk) 14:06, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from First Class Scout (Boy Scouts of America), which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think this article should be deleted, please do not add {{proposed deletion}} back to the page. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!

I notice this article was PRODded yesterday and redirected earlier today (Scout Sunday, of all times!). I contest this; I believe that this warrants a stand-alone article. Here's why:

  1. Tenderfoot and Second Class are a build-up to First Class, much as Star and Life build up to Eagle,. If you only have two of them, Star and
  2. All of the Scout ranks easily pass GNG; if people are concerned about articles about some ranks and not others, the remedy is to CREATE the remaining ranks, not DELETE First Class

pbp 17:08, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

While I agree that the lower ranks build to first class, individual articles for each rank make the Ranks in Scouts BSA page obsolete. Additionally, first class, unlike Eagle, has objectively not received significant coverage from sources other than Scouting America. In fact, the only sources for the article are the scout handbook and the rank requirements. Etaylor128 (talk) 17:29, 16 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Scouting America

John Laurens GAN Failed

[edit]

Hello. You recently failed my nomination for John Laurens for not meeting criterion 2b. However, there were references. The criterion states that claims must be cited no later than the end of the paragraph. There were citations in every single paragraph, and those supported every claim. Therefore, the nomination (in my opinion) should not have been failed. Thank you. Ali Beary (talk!) 12:48, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello..? Ali Beary (talk!) 14:09, 10 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Compass128??? You're active on Wikipedia. Are you just not checking your talk page, or..? Ali Beary (talk!) 17:10, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I apologize as I was away for quite a while. There were a few reasons why I failed your nomination. First was the citations. While there was at least one in each paragraph, I counted six citation needed tags within the article. Since GA sets a high standard for references it was my opinion that they needed to be addressed. Second, WP:EARWIG detected some potential copyvios, the most serious of which being portions of the paragraph beginning with “Laurens arrived at Charleston in April 1777”, which is very similar to a section from http://www.nps.gov/vafo/historyculture/johnlaurens.htm. It seems some attempt was made to paraphrase the source, but additional work is needed to avoid a copyvio. Should you fix these issues I would be happy to consider another nomination. Compass128 (talk) 17:58, 30 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're the one who added the citation needed templates in the article. Is that what you meant by you counted them?
Furthermore, I'm a bit unsure how to correct the copyvio. I tried before, but it appears to not have fixed the issue. Any chance you could "be bold" and help me out, or no? Either is fine, as I could probably just try again if you can't help. :) Ali Beary (talk!) 16:42, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The citation needed tags were added by LastJabberwocky. Looking through the article it seems you’ve done most of the work needed to address them. I’ll remove the unneeded ones and will also try to reword the copyvio. I’ll drop a message on your talk page once I’ve finished, at which point I’d be happy to review a renomination of the article. Thank you for your work on the topic! Compass128 (talk) 17:08, 1 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your help!! I'll renominate it soon. :) Ali Beary (talk!) 15:52, 2 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

History of merit badges page-move

[edit]

Hi Compass128,

When you did the History of merit badges (Boy Scouts of America)History of merit badges (Scouting America) page-move, you moved the article and the talk-page, but not the talk-page archives and did not update the archiving tags. That left a several orphaned items and broken functionalities. Please remember to look for subpages when moving (ok to ping others if you recognize a move is needed but that it's more complex or has lots of inter-linked details). I see this is not the first time you've made a mess with page-moves. Maybe take a step back from that sort of editing for a while, or only do so in cases that have absolutely no interrelations with other pages and subpages?
