Welcome!

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Neil Cannon
[edit]
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Neil Cannon, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Tenshi! Hello Jason Quinnn. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Jason Quinnn. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jason Quinnn|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 20:29, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Jason Quinnn: Please disclose all the accounts you have used before this, including accounts that may be blocked. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 20:30, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for your message. I want to clarify that I am not a paid editor, nor have I received or expect to receive compensation of any kind for my work on Wikipedia. I began drafting the article on Neil Cannon because I have seen a great deal of discussion and interest around his work, and I believed he may meet Wikipedia’s notability criteria based on the independent sources I was able to find.
- My intention is to contribute neutrally and in line with Wikipedia’s policies. I understand and respect the community’s concerns about neutrality and conflict of interest, and I am happy to collaborate with other editors to ensure that the draft is encyclopedic, properly sourced, and free from promotional language.
- If there are specific areas in the draft that you believe need adjustment, I would greatly appreciate your guidance so I can improve the article accordingly.
- Thank you for your time and for helping me better understand Wikipedia’s policies.

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Jason Quinnn, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jason Quinnn|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 20:32, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Jason Quinnn: Respond to this immediately. Do not use AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) to draft your response, and please disclose your previous accounts you claim to have on your user page. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 20:33, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello,
- Apologies for the delayed reply, I am not using chatgpt or any AI for a response, I apologise if you got that impression. I always wanted to publish profiles and be involved in Wikipedia, I used to edit through my friends accounts, and through IPs, and then i decided to make my own editor account, I request that you guys understand me, and would love if i have your support in this Jason Quinnn (talk) 20:42, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- You have, however, used ChatGPT to write Neil Cannon. The article will be deleted or draftified soon. I would highly recommend rewriting it using your own words, and reviewing WP:N and WP:RS. Articles should be as neutral as possible, and must be supported by reliable, independent sources. Independeent means that the source (website, etc.) cannot be associated with the subject or anything related to them. Once you have improved the draft, submit it for review. Do not move it to mainspace. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 20:46, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- I give you my assurance and guarantee that I haven't involved chatgpt, I used content from different places and that might be written by AI due to which it might look like I have used AI, I am more then happy to edit the current draft, and change the content abiding the article being neutral, reliable, and independent sources. Jason Quinnn (talk) 20:48, 26 September 2025 (UTC)

: Please read WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:PLAGARISM. Do not copy content from elsewhere. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 20:51, 26 September 2025 (UTC)- Not Copy Pasted, I extracted it from it. I understand where you are coming from, But I'd request if you could give me one more go, Id fix it and let you know. It'd be a loss of motivation if my first ever profile got deleted. Jason Quinnn (talk) 21:00, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- A few things here: 1) Wikipedia articles are not "profiles", and treating them as such often leads to promotional editing. Instead, treat them like articles in a physical encyclopedia, which discuss their contributions to society in a neutral tone. 2) Writing an article is hard, writing an article about a living person is even harder. I have never created an article yet, and most drafts (nearly 95% of them) are repeatedly declined at AfC. Please, please, do not let this discourage you, instead, focus on improving existing articles, from which you'll learn how to find reliable sources and properly cite them. Once you get better at this, you'll know exactly what you need to create an article that passes our notability guidelines. There are plenty of things to do here, and creating articles is just one way to contribute to this project. For example, there's a copyedit drive in progress, and they need help to make sure our existing articles follow our quality and editorial standards. If you ever need any help with editing Wikipedia, feel free to ask at my talk page or at the Teahouse. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 21:11, 26 September 2025 (UTC)
- @ChildrenWillListen Understood, I appreciate your response, I am glad people like you are so understanding, I shall treat them as articles and a general topic of discussion, thank You Jason Quinnn (talk) 21:28, 26 September 2025 (UTC)

- @Jason Quinnn You mention "neutral, reliable, and independent sources". As I mentioned below, many of these "sources" in the draft (it's a draft now) give a "page not found" error when you click on them. You need to check each of these sources -- click on the blue links -- to make sure each linked page exists.
- Better yet, do not allow AI to create sources out of thin air. David10244 (talk) 00:28, 30 September 2025 (UTC)

- Unfortunately, I believe that Neil Cannon is not notable and cannot have a Wikipedia article written about him at this time. As for the promotional content, Wikipedia articles are not resumes, and should not include every single award that a subject has received. It should explain why the subject is notable, and events covered by reliable sources. Having an "early life" section with the birth date, place, parents, and alma mater is also recommended. - @Jason Quinnn - I was reviewing the speedy delete nominations and came across this draft. My first impression is that it reads like a page that would be posted on a list of therapists for potential clients to review credentials, or a CV for LinkedIn. In addition, the sources are primary sources - Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Using Cannon's website further gives the impression of being promotional. Unless fundamentally re-written, not just added to with "Early life", etc., it will likely be deleted. — ERcheck (talk) 21:16, 26 September 2025 (UTC)

- @Jason Quinnn:
- If you plan to start from scratch, you can add {{db-author}} to the mainspace page.
- Otherwise, it can be "moved" back to draft space without a redirect.

I have reviewed WP:N and WP:RS and the article is written as per the guidelines, and independent sources have been used. Can i have a feedback Jason Quinnn (talk) 00:08, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
No independent sourcing
[edit]Great work on making the article neutral in tone! However, there still aren't any independent sources in the article. You need them in order to meet WP:GNG, which is required for your draft to be accepted. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 00:33, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hey Thanks for your reply, I am working on it.
- One more thing, Someone replied on the tea house that """"
- I wouldn't decline it, I'd reject it outright. It includes hallucinated sources from an AI, and not one single cited source meets all the WP:Golden rule criteria. There is nothing in the prose to explain why this individual is notable or different from any of hundreds of others in his profession.
- I find this a bit harsh, what do you say? i understand the notability part and i am finding independent sources, but do you think the decisions can be biased?Id love if you could help me out here @ChildrenWillListen Jason Quinnn (talk) 00:59, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Generally, if multiple people say the same thing, it's not biased and you'll do well to listen. I do feel the draft is a bit better now, and source 2 (the Westword article) is better than the rest. Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 01:03, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Jason Quinnn The links that are listed in the comment at the Teahouse as "hallucinated" simply means that an AI, or someone else, made up the references. When I click on those linked references, I get a "page not found" error. Are you saying that you believe the links exist? When you click on the links, are you taken to an actual Web page? David10244 (talk) 17:41, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- @Jason Quinnn - @David10244 is exactly right on "hallucinated" ciations. See Draft_talk:Neil_Cannon#Issues_with_citations where I have detailed the issues with almost every citation - most page not found, or "fake" as ISBN gives completely different title. — ERcheck (talk) 18:13, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
- Saying that the comment is "a bit harsh" makes me think you are not understanding the issue. I will say it another way. You spent a small amount of time asking a chatbot to write this text for you. Then other editors had to spend much more of their own time to read the crap that the chatbot produced and verify that most of the references are totally fictitious and useless. You have wasted a lot of time that other editors could have used to do something productive. This is highly disrespectful of other editors and of the encyclopedia itself. I'm sure this sounds harsh to you, and it should. Using chatbots to write content and then not even bothering to verify that the content is not totally fictitious is one of the worst things you can do on Wikipedia. It not only wastes editor time, it risks corrupting the reliability of Wikipedia itself. I will say this bluntly but I hope clearly: if you continue to use chatbots to write article content, you will certainly be blocked from editing on Wikipedia. CodeTalker (talk) 00:02, 28 September 2025 (UTC)

The page Neil Cannon has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it was a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

- Yesterday I got a message on my talk page that there are people e-mailing others using my user name to try to trick them into paid editing for articles about them. Jason Quinn (talk) 04:57, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- I've indef blocked the user and blanked their userpage to protect editors and prevent disruption as the timing of this is so suspicious to the impersonation warning I received. I did this in an extreme rush before leaving for work but I think it's inline with our blocking policy. The user can respond here still. Jason Quinn (talk) 05:06, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hello Mr Quinn - I can provide my legal documentations if required, this is my legal name. I tried creating my editor account but since it already had a co existing name, I changed it. However if it disturbs the Wikipedia policy and goes against it, I am more then happy to comply and change it. I would appreciate it if you could unblock me, and I will use a pseodoname or a nickname so it does not impersonate you, I apologise if it caused you harm. Thank You for your understanding! Jason Quinnn (talk) 10:07, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- That won't be necessary. Your explanation is sufficient. I see you've renamed your account. You may, however, want to consider a "clean start". Although "ChronoTexts" is a cool name, some of your real life information will be discoverable to others (such as your real name). I used to think it was a good idea to use your real name for editing but I changed my opinion on that a long time ago. If I could do it over, I'd go as fully anonymous as possible. Anyway, see you around in one form or another! Jason Quinn (talk) 16:52, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
