Information icon Thank you for contributing to the article St. Xavier's Institution (Panihati). However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, wikis, personal websites, and websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight. These sources may express views that are widely acknowledged as pushing a particular point-of-view, sometimes even extremist, being promotional in nature, or relying heavily on rumors and personal opinions. One of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Menu/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. Sam Kuru (talk) 12:50, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Kuru The provided information regarding infrastructure is purely informatical, ie. size of the classroom, building dimensions. This kind of information is generally reported on the organisation website solely.
If you find any overly promotional wording, feel free to edit and point out mistakes.
Regards. Caesarian Cobol (talk) 13:41, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At any rate, I've decided to edit out any unintended promotional wording. Thanks for your input. Caesarian Cobol (talk) 13:54, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Unreferenced" tags (on Burunga massacre)

[edit]

Hello

Sorry I didn't write this message sooner. When there is a tag of "unreferenced", it means the article (or section) has been written without showing where the evidence came from. That tag must stay there until someone does add the references showing where that information was published. You could add the proper references yourself, if you know them. When the reliable third-party sources are added to the section, THEN the tag can be removed. TooManyFingers (talk) 21:33, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You cannot just decide to remove the tags that show problems with an article. You have to first prove that all the problems are ALREADY fixed. "I'm working on it" is not an acceptable reason. TooManyFingers (talk) 20:48, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

... and Rupam Islam

[edit]

It would probably be best if you just don't remove any defect tags from any articles for several months. Let others do it. I know the tags don't look nice, but they are there for a reason, and the way you're just carelessly getting rid of them is VERY close to being vandalism. So please just stop, OK? TooManyFingers (talk) 21:19, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@TooManyFingers Although Ive agreed with you on a separate talk space, I'm replying for the visibility of others.
I'm new to this and prone to making mistakes. I'll be more careful later on. Caesarian Cobol (talk) 22:45, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Hypothetical Painter Please refrain from calling someone a "brainwashed child". this goes against WP:NOPERSONALATTACKS. Thehistorianisaac (talk) 13:13, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

@Rosguill It would aid in the discussion if you linked the page you are talking about as I am quite busy and will admit to having a short memory. Caesarian Cobol (talk) 14:16, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Pretty much your entire edit history appears to be concerned with South Asian topics, predominantly India. That's not a problem, but you should definitely be apprised of the baseline expectations expected of all editors engaging with WP:CTOPs relating to India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. signed, Rosguill talk 14:19, 28 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
