Jetstar

[edit]

Literally all the source tells us is that a plane exists with a certain registration and type that flies for Jetstar. It doesn’t say anything about it being the fourth of the type - how is a reader meant to verify that Jetstar has four of those aircraft? Danners430 (talk) 19:42, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

They can work it out that as it ends in a D and it's the fourth letter in the alphabet. CHCBOY (talk) 19:59, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn’t mean anything. It’s not up to the reader to “work it out” - it’s up to you, per WP:BURDEN, to provide sources to verify your edits. You’re claiming (and I don’t doubt) that Jetstar have 4 of these planes - therefore we need a source that states that they have 4 planes. Danners430 (talk) 20:01, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I understand. Also on the Jetstar fleet table none of the current references match the shown total of each aircraft type. The problem of course is they do change very frequently. CHCBOY (talk) 22:33, 21 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Danners430. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Jetstar, but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Danners430 tweaks made 17:05, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it's hard to find sources but Jetstar has moved 3 A320s from Singapore to Australia since June so was changing it . Other than the registrations it is really the only reference that could be used as the old total on the list is not correct. CHCBOY (talk) 17:11, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand it may be hard to find references - but there really is a simple way to think about it… if it can’t be sourced, why is it on Wikipedia?
Also, please consider setting up archiving on your talk page - it’s exceptionally long which makes loading times long and makes adding comments tricky. Happy to show you how it can be achieved and help if need be! Danners430 tweaks made 17:18, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest though it's the same on every airline page here in Wikipedia. Everyone seems to change them everytime an aircraft arrives without referencing. Look at United they get a new aircraft nearly every day! CHCBOY (talk) 17:29, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I know… I’m beginning to wonder whether it’s worth deliberately removing quantities from articles and simply having a list of types instead… one of these days I’ll have enough time to start a discussion at the relevant wiki project!
Also have you had a quick look at my suggestion about archiving? Danners430 tweaks made 17:33, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Danners, I should archive it i agree. But don't know how to. If you can give me a tip that would help thanks in advance. CHCBOY (talk) 17:41, 12 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
There’s a bot that does it for you - Lowercase Sigmabot. It just takes a template at the top of the talk page and it’ll do the rest for you :)
I’m happy to do it on your behalf - all I need to know is the following:
1. Do you want periodic archives (eg one archive per year) or just a new archive whenever the last one got too big?
2. How old do you want discussions to be before they’re archived (eg. 1 week old, 3 weeks old etc.)
3. Do you want a certain minimum number of discussions to always be on the talk page or do you want it wiped clean if nothing is happening?

Sorry for the late reply been a busy day. It could be done once a year for the archive. I don't want to take up heaps of your time though. I should really do it myself maybe. CHCBOY (talk) 18:17, 13 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No you’re fine - I’ll set up yearly archives for you just now. I’ll set it to leave a minimum of 3 threads on the page, but that can very easily be changed later :) Danners430 tweaks made 19:58, 13 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wound up using ClueBot instead as it seemed to behave better with annual archiving… it should kick in shortly. Danners430 tweaks made 20:16, 13 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for all your help. I have really neglected it for years. Cheers CHCBOY (talk) 20:41, 13 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It's done it now the archiving took a while but it looks much neater thanks CHCBOY (talk) 19:10, 20 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah there was an issue with ClueBot - it was broken! Danners430 tweaks made 19:10, 20 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I have found a ref for how many Virgin has of the Max fleet through the CASA register. CHCBOY (talk) 18:53, 8 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, saw that - thanks :-) Danners430 tweaks made 18:54, 8 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
