Conversation

[edit]

Hi @Brit-o-pedia. Thanks for the ping on my Talk page. While I don't think there's necessarily a policy against it, I think it's fair to say that taking conversations "off-wiki" is frowned upon. Wikipedia generally likes things to be visible and traceable.

Is there a way we can have the conversation here? You haven't said what it's about, but I can only imagine it relates to the current discussion around the Baronage page, and perhaps the Roll. In that case, it's good practice to show our work, as we don't want to look like we are "colluding" behind the scenes. You'll just have to be careful what you say about other editors. I often find it useful to think about Wikipedia like participating in a court case: things must be alleged rather than stated as fact, and proof is necessary for every assertion. You can see some of this (hopefully) at work in the current incident which was filed at the Administrator's Noticeboard, to link to which you can find at the bottom of the Baronage Talk page.

I really appreciate how thoughtful and detailed your replies have been in the discussion. It's clear you like taking your time and getting things right, and a critical eye is exactly what's needed in an editor. — Arcaist (contr—talk) 13:59, 17 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Archaist I've removed my previous message to you, assuming that you read it, and that your "non-reply" was in fact a reply - and that message has been received. Moving on, once the dust settles on the baronage page, I'd love to start an actual clean-up, from grammar to missing citations, and wondered if as I do that you would be willing to guide me?
