Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Hack Club. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. 🧙‍♀️ Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 19:56, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see another reasonable way to proceed with having actual readable content on that page and how it's not neutral. Should the list by itself be removed? I thought that change is major enough to need the talk page first. ApertureUA (talk) 20:03, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I was also about to add a "criticism" section but now that would be lacking some context. And without other content on that page, it would look like I am *against* HackClub. ApertureUA (talk) 20:05, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're not supposed to add a list of sponsors to an article because it isn't encyclopedic. Anything you say, both praise and criticism, has to be backed up by reliable sources. 🧙‍♀️ Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 20:07, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I did not add that, I reverted someone else removing pretty much the entire article. But anyways, what about the long list of notable events I initially added a single entry to? These aren't notable enough to have their own pages (eg. HackMIT) but in my opinion are notable enough to provide insight on what kind of activities the said organization actually does. Are the claims from the organizers themselves enough of a source for the existence of these or do I have to pull up old news pages saying virtually the same thing? ApertureUA (talk) 20:21, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I am sorry if I am sounding rude, I am just unexperienced. Quick question, I understand that this blog is not a reliable enough source to claim HC *did* something but is it notable enough to say "A previous member has accused..."? ApertureUA (talk) 20:25, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, that is not a reliable source and you can't add that to the article unless a reputable news agency or another reliable source covered it. 🧙‍♀️ Children Will Listen (🐄 talk, 🫘 contribs) 20:29, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That's... ...great. Or not so great. I am not sure. But either way, I am looking forward to the answers to my other questions, thanks. ApertureUA (talk) 20:58, 12 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]
