DYK for European Geniza

[edit]

On 16 November 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article European Geniza, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the "books within books" of the European Geniza are a collection of manuscript fragments recovered from medieval and early-modern book bindings? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/European Geniza. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, European Geniza), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Thanks! Andre🚐 01:00, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is an interesting subject. I just looked at the article after the discussion at WP:ERRORS. Do you want the word "Hebrew" or "Jewish" added to the hook? Or no change. It seems fine as is to me. The hook should bring in a broad range of readers and it's pretty clear from the article that the fragments come from Hebrew texts and also how and why. Fingers crossed, that someone gets interested and expands based on the Hebrew version. Feel free to {{ping}} to me if you need it changed or ignore this message if not. And congrats on the fine work, Rjjiii (talk) 07:11, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, thank you very much for the message and kind words, @Rjjiii:. Maybe we could add Hebrew to the hook and let @FlyingScotsman72 know. It couldn't hoit and we could perform a small mitzvah today. Andre🚐 07:13, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're amazing <3 Again I'm truly sorry about what I said before. You're a legend man :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Even if it doesn't get added, I'm feeling so much happier now to know there are still some people like you on Wikipeia who are not trying to politicise everything. Everyone deserves recognition. Jews, Muslims, Palestinians and Israelis have all given a huge amount to the world in every way. Thank you again <3 FlyingScotsman72 (talk) 07:44, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. Well, it's getting late now in the run so I think maybe Rjjiii didn't see the ping or won't get to it in time. But I'm glad you feel better, so I think we accomplished the mitzvah either way. Remember next time to inquire on the editor's talk page before posting to DYKERRORS in a case like this where it's not a clear error per se :-) BTW, WikiProject Jewish history needs help. There are still tons of missing JE/EJ topics not to mention the list at WikiProject Jewish history/to do and plenty of helpful resources at WikiProject Jewish history/Resources.
