With some exceptions, under notability guidelines it is less what the subject says or does, and more about what others say about the subject. So if there are Critical Notices or other academic reviews of his work then that is far more useful than going on TV to discuss their own work. Kindly read WP:ACADEMIC and focus tightly on the criteria, and subject specific notes below. Most academics will not qualify for a Wikipedia entry.
