Classifying places as townlands / villages / hamlets / etc
[edit]Hi. You may wish to read WP:OR, WP:VER and WP:BURDEN. Whether a place is described as a townland (or village or whatever) is determined by what the sources can support. None of the sources, for example, in the Kilcandra article describe it as a "village". While all four of the existing sources use the term "townland". Same goes for Ballinskelligs, where one of the main sources in the lead (handily quoted to aid in WP:VER) expressly states that "Ballinskelligs isn't a town or a village". If there are sources which support the changes you wish to make, then please do provide them. In the meantime it isn't appropriate to WP:HIJACK the existing sources (to support a change or text which they do not seem to support). Thanks. Guliolopez (talk) 15:15, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hi. Please start providing references to support and justify your changes. Otherwise they could readily be reverted as unsupported and unexplained. See WP:BURDEN. Guliolopez (talk) 15:49, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Without some form of support or explanation for your edits, you may continue to find that they are reverted by other editors. Guliolopez (talk) 00:17, 20 July 2025 (UTC)
