THE CONTENT GOT REMOVED FROM JAISMAND LAKE HISTORY

[edit]

I had previously added a section to the History part of the Jaisamand Lake article stating that “Jaisamand Lake is also known as Dhebar Lake because, during the construction of the dam, it was widely believed that building it would not be possible without a human sacrifice. According to local tradition, a cowherd named Dhiba Dangi from the nearby village of Virpura volunteered for the sacrifice, and since then the lake has also been known as Dhebar Lake.”

This information was later removed because I was unable to provide a reliable published source to verify it. I would like to clarify that this tradition is not currently documented on the internet. I am a resident of Semal, Salumber, Rajasthan, a village located at the edge of the lake, and I know this story through oral history passed down from my ancestors.

While I fully believe this account to be true, I also understand that Wikipedia requires verifiable and reliable sources. Therefore, I would like to ask: if I am able to collect evidence from the site — such as inscriptions carved on stone or official documents preserved in local offices — would those materials qualify as acceptable sources for inclusion in the article? 223.229.167.37 (talk) 06:04, 10 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
