About BLP

[edit]

To clarify, unsourced BLP content can't wait on a page when sources are pending. It has to be sourced in order to be included on the page. Placeholderer (talk) 19:07, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I give up. I quit. Just ban me already. It feels like this page is only caring about the victims and the incident, but not as much detail about the suspect. 2600:1702:5225:C010:D01B:C5DE:4DCD:9E72 (talk) 19:11, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Here's what I typed:
== Perpetrator ==
The perpetrator was identified by law enforcement as Robin M. Westman (June 17, 2002 – August 27, 2025), a 23-year-old woman from Richfield, Minnesota,[1][2][3] who had no extensive criminal history.[4] Westman grew up in Richfield and lived in the area throughout most of his life.[5]
Westman was born male as (Redacted) on June 17, 2002, but changed her name to Robin M. Westman on January 15, 2020, according to court documents.[1][6] Westman's mother replied to WCCO-AM that she applied for a name change for Westman because he "identifies as a female and wants her name to reflect that identification."[7]
Police confirmed that Westman had ties to the church itself, as Westman's mother was a former parish secretary at Annunciation from 2016 until her retirement in 2021 according to a post on Facebook.[8][9] Westman herself acted alone at the time of the shooting.[10][11][12][13][1]
  • The date-of-birth above is correct. There was a photo that contains his name change certificate that is currently circulating online right now.

This is also misgendering the perpetrator by not using their preferred pronouns. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 19:15, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that so much effort is being put into not offending the sensibilities of the dead deranged murderer says something. Nothing positive, but it does say something.

The issue wasn't that the information was about the suspect. The issue was that the information was unsourced, or not sourced in a way that is possible to verify. You're welcome to continue editing Wikipedia, but all information—especially information about living or recently deceased people—has to be properly and verifiably sourced. I know, the page is now completely locked, and I can't find more details about Robin's life before the shooting. 2600:1702:5225:C010:D01B:C5DE:4DCD:9E72 (talk) 19:18, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Purpose of talk pages

[edit]

Hello, the talk page for an article is not meant to be used for general discussion of a topic; nor is it meant to post every little bit of information about a topic that is in the news. Your recent contributions to Talk: Annunciation Catholic Church shooting are largely speculation or posting information not relevant to the article; details such as the shooter's DOB, or the town the shooter's mother lives in, are not relevant to an encyclopaedia article about the shooting. Please keep this in mind!

I'm sorry... I'm just an idiot at finding information. 2600:1702:5225:C010:D01B:C5DE:4DCD:9E72 (talk) 20:16, 27 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
