Hey there! @Freelance Intellectual My Malaysian Chinese friend! I do not want to engage in an argument with you on Swatow dialect , it is not worth-it, not worth our time, why not we take this time to developed Swatow dialect article constructively instead? but I would want you to do the same to kindly respect my Swatow dialect dialect/language and its culture.
First of all, you speak Penang Hokkien which is a dialect of Southern Min, so I happen to speak a dialect called Swatow dialect which is also a dialect of Southern Min. So you see? we speak a common languages, so we have something in common!
Defense of the Ancients was quite famous back in the days, I used to played similar games too.
You and I both love history, so we have something in common.
You are always 24/7 hour on the phone as you happen to be the protector and guard for the Penang Hokkien and Hokkien Article since year 2009, I understand that feeling, because you spoke the dialect/languages, why would you allow someone who is not local, and decide what language are you speaking? right? - I hope you understand my feelings which I go through.
You happened to have a things for languages, which brings both us together, which is what brought us here into this "Teochew" dialect.
You happened to speak Indonesian, Malay, Penang Hokkien, Malaysian Mandarin, English and High German, that is very impressive!
Since you have a things for Hokkien, you started developing all Hokkien - related language, Taiwanese Hokkien, Southern Min, Southern Peninsular Malaysian Hokkien , Philippine Hokkien, seems to me you are like a Hokkien warrior who prepares to protect Hokkien identity at all cost, even actively write on Written Hokkien language concerning about preserving the Hokkien language, also talked and contribute about Kiasi and Kiasu, I mean this are also the term that I used in my daily life! Also you contribute a lot towards Culture of Penang, doesn't take a low intellectual people to know that you are from Penang, Malaysia.
You have an huge interest in Malay language as well, which shows that you speak the language of Malay, Manglish, Malaysian English.
Actively involve in 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal, which means you are politically concerned about Malaysia, quite obvious you are a Malaysian Chinese from Malaysia, probably of Hoklo people, otherwise known as Hokkien people or people who speak Southern Min language, Hoklo Taiwanese, that means both of us definitely belong to the same tribe of people. Look here I mean you no harm, I just want to preserve my Shantou people identity, similarly as to you which preserving and protecting the Hokkien identity aka Hokkien culture.
Your interest of Hokkien language from year 2009 comes up to year 2024, then you got bored of the topic Hokkien hence in year 2024, you ventured into Teochew dialect or langauge, which you clearly do not have much information of, and assume A = A , B= B. Imagine if someone were to change your language Penang Hokkien to Singaporean Hokkien how would you like that? Anyway i try not to divert much and lets don't pour oil into fire,
Anyway I can see that you have a huge interest in Canarium urceus, a sea-snail creature and happen to love a sweet stuff called Macaron, Kue putu, Klepon, Lapis legit, Nasi lemak, Buah melaka, you should eat less of this sweet things as it can cause side-effect on your health, and also engage in Administrator Notice Board with a Malaysian people individual by the name of Ahmad_Shazlan.
You edited Chinese New Year, Malaysian cuisine or Yu Sheng every year a week or day before the actual Chinese New Year. Which clearly shows that you are a Malaysian Chinese, edited and improved on article relating to Keling which I understood its a racist denotation thing in Penang, Malaysia.
Also you know some stuff about Singaporean Minister Ong Ye Kung , and happen to know a things of two about Singapore and its demographics. Which is pretty impressive!
It was not until year 2024, you magically came to this topic here today we are discussing , the "Teochew" and the "Swatow" or otherwise Teo-Swa "潮汕“
I do not understand why would a person from Malaysia, from the state of region of Penang who happen to speak Hokkien has a lot of interest in Teochew or Swatow out of the sudden? Did you happen to learn it from the local Penang Teochews? How can you tell if it is authentic? and what are the differences? as compared to Hokkien?
and which brings back to the common objective of why I am writing this, I respect your Malaysian Culture and your Hokkien language, and in favor I ask kindly of you of respect my Shantou culture and Swatow dialect.
I really look forward to work together with you, but let us not step on each other foot shall we? There is no ending towards this, the only objective we want is to keep the public well-inform about what we know, I'm sure that is why you are contributing towards Hokkien language throughout all this year since 2009. Likewise, just like you, I would want to preserve my Swatow dialect or otherwise known as Shantou dialect or language. Both of you and I happen to have similar favourite food of "Teochew & Swatow" or "Hokkien" you may call it and that is Ang ku kueh. Hence let us start by having a constructive discussion on how to help me to preseve my dialect which is the Swatow dialect. 101.100.177.230 (talk) 09:15, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to contribute constructively, you need to accept that, in English, the term "Teochew" refers to all Chaoshan dialects, including Shantou dialect. Freelance Intellectual (talk) 10:05, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Did you even read what i write? or did you just skip? 101.100.177.230 (talk) 10:06, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I strongly discourage you from assessing the identity of other editors and assuming they are obligated to contribute to whatever your favorite articles are. They are not. Northern Moonlight 16:42, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Did you just ran out of idea what to write about Hokkien? What does Shantou or Swatow dialect concern you? May I kindly ask? to a Penang Hokkien , Malaysian speaker like you? 101.100.177.230 (talk) 10:16, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I’d be blunt. What articles they contribute to is none of your business. Northern Moonlight 16:42, 18 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You have made your point

[edit]

You have commented more 20 times in the thread with very long paragraphs, with basically the same thing over and over again. This is bludgeoning the process and can get you blocked. Northern Moonlight 14:36, 19 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up. I'll try not to add anything further. 101.100.177.230 (talk) 10:17, 20 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]
