Ganpati Kalal (1920 – 1944) was an Indian independence activist from Maharashtra. He took part in the Quit India Movement of 1942 in the Nagpur region and was declared an absconder by the British authorities.[1][2]
Early life
[edit]Ganpati Kalal was born in 1920 in Umared village, Nagpur District, Maharashtra.[1] He came from a modest family background and later worked as a private employee before becoming involved in the national movement.[2]
Role in the Quit India Movement
[edit]When Mahatma Gandhi launched the Quit India Movement in August 1942, Kalal actively participated in protests and underground activities in the Nagpur region.[1] His involvement brought him to the notice of the colonial authorities, and he was declared an absconder. He remained underground for nearly two years while continuing his role in the movement.[2]
Death
[edit]In 1944, while evading arrest, Kalal died during his underground activities.[1] His name is included among the martyrs of India’s independence struggle in historical records.[2]
