As of 2022 I haven't been very active on Wikipedia for a few years now. It no longer feels like the exciting place for an editor/administrator that it once was. However, my enthusiasm for the project has waxed and waned several times before, so I may yet return. I still keep an eye on my watchlist and make the occasional edit. I also try to respond quickly to any comments on my talk page.

The English Wikipedia has 297,808 active editors, out of 50,713,564 accounts that have been registered. Countless people have edited without using an account. There are 830 administrators, of whom fewer than 500 are active as of early 2022. Together the community has made 1,323,929,466 edits to 64,695,044 pages, of which just 7,109,005 are articles – so a lot goes on behind the scenes.
Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account associated with their edits.
Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). An Articles for Creation backlog drive is happening in December 2025, with over 1,000 drafts awaiting review from the past two months.
