[edit]Etymology: Lost in translation, and an obvious reference.
Interests: Eclectic, but still improving.
Education: 80 years' worth. I may get there someday.
Experience: 60 years as a student, professional scientist, fundraiser, project manager, advisor, principal investigator, reviewer for scientific journals, occasional environmental leader. Retired Emeritus. Private pilot, IFR rated, but not current.
Avocations: Science. Nature. Art. Literature. Music. Fun. Family. Friends.
Personal Characteristics: Persnickety about precision and clarity, but I try to be philosophical about it. A bit too critical sometimes. Compulsive problem solver, on about just about anything that gets my attention. I use the bulldog technique. Laconic humor, which many people don't seem to follow. I pretend to be quiet and modest.
Philosophy: Shit happens. Don't wade around in it. Deal with it and move on. But do use a shovel, if you can't divert a river through it.
Pet Peeves: Liars, lawyers, and politicians; Not to mention salesmen, con artists, conspiracy theorists, evangelicals, and coconut.
Local ambition: To contribute a few bytes to the community. Still getting started after ~18 years of minor edits and a couple of articles.
