My name is John and I'm from North Carolina in the United States.

Please expect me to be slow responding here. I'm often busy in real life: family, work, farming, kitties, and sleep all come before Wikipedia.

Usertalk and email

[edit]

If you'd like to contact me or leave a comment, please help yourself to my talk page.

It's okay to leave a note in any language listed in my Babel boxes. I will answer in your language as best I can.

I don't really mind grumpy talk page comments, as I'm often a grump myself.

If you can't find a previous talk page discussion, be sure to check the archive. I rarely delete real discussions on purpose.

Wikipedia discussions belong on Wikipedia, but my email link is open to registered editors for private matters. Emails to me are not confidential unless I say that they are, and I reserve the right to repeat, reproduce, or restate anything you email me on a public forum such as a usertalk, ANI, or VRT.

Interests

[edit]

I'm most active at the biographies of living persons noticeboard, articles for deletion, new pages review, and articles listed there.

Otherwise, I've authored or edited articles mostly about Bhutan, Pohnpei, and persons who are quite dead. I like history, languages, and law as well. When I have time, those are the places where I pay the most attention to discussions, edit, or just read to read.

Politics

[edit]

I don't have any political affiliation, agenda, interest, or squeamishness. I've found that helps here. For example, I once addressed complaints of an actual Nazi about edits to his then-BLP. I think we both left the discussion feeling okay. I'm also okay with him being pretty dead these days.
