I used to use this page for sandboxing before I realised I was allowed to create subpages.
I always forget to log in to Wikipedia so most my edits aren't attributed to me.

Wiki Markup Notes

[edit]
  • Basic cheatsheet
  • You can put references inside references using "{{refn|group=group-name|First Reference.<ref>Second Reference.</ref>}}" (see: refn).
  • You can make a table sortable using "{| class="wikitable sortable"" (see: Help:Table#Sortable_tables).
  • You can sort dates with the "{{dts|YYYY|MM|DD}}" template (see: Template:Dts).
  • A list of TV episodes goes in an Template:Episode_table with individual episodes in an Template:Episode list.
  • Template message homeage: Wikipedia:Template messages
  • If you use "[[File:Example.jpg]]" it will automatically embed the file which is great until you want to link to the file.
If you want to do that you need to prefix it with a colon, for example: "[[:File:Example.jpg]]".

Wikipedia Style

[edit]

I am currently using the Timeless theme.

My personal Wikipedia user CSS is managed at User:Dasime/common.css. I currently only have configuration to display citation template error messages in the page so I can actually debug them.

Unlike Twinkle which looks fairly native, RedWarn adds colourful icons to pages which aren't as accessible as plain words. I find myself hovering over RW icons waiting for the mouseover tooltip to tell me what it does. To make RW actions appear as words under "Page tools" you have to:

  1. On any page, select the RW action "More Options"
  2. Select "RedWarn Preferences"
  3. Navigate to the "Appearance" tab
  4. Under the "Location of RedWarn controls" section, select "In the 'more' dropdown menu (like Twinkle, plain links)"
  5. Click "Save Changes" and refresh the page
