About me
|
The way I see it, being a Wikipedian can be a little like playing a game of Tetris. From up above, I receive a constant stream of edits in my watchlist; "they come down and I spin them around, 'til they fit in the ground like hand in glove". This applies equally to frequently finding erroneous choices of names, layouts and the like. However, "the rule of the game is we all are the same", which can be valuable to keep in mind when realizing one's own deficiencies in judgement; perhaps, "I should not have nudged it after all"...
When building upon Wikipedia – at least in the most desirable scenario – "my blocks must create unbroken rows". In the current and foreseeable states of this matter, however, this may be almost unachievable, meaning that blocks must be stacked aside while I wait for a {{Citation needed}} situation to be ameliorated, while I audibly beg for a block of just the right specification. When I finally obtain the right block, a sense of satisfaction may finally arise as a result of a continuous row having been finished.
It is easy to drift between projects within Wikipedia, as there are always new blocks incoming and rows finished. These rows can, however, be the blocks received by another equal comrade, resulting in further edits and possible deletion. "What’s the point of it all, when you’re building a wall, and in front of your eyes it disappears?" One might even consider going on a WP:WIKIBREAK when overwhelmed by the exhaustion and by the frustration which arises when one realizes that a lone proletarian does not own an article; indeed nobody even pays them a dime! Yet, I believe that should Wikipedia be causing one's depression, retiring might be a an option to consider, before bed rotting becomes the chronic effect of contributing.

My contributions to Wikipedia
[edit]In December 2024, I became inspired to write an article on the AMPD (see below). Since constructing it in March of 2025, I have been an active Wikipedian, mainly in the mental health field.
Personality disorders
[edit]Improvement of Wikipedia coverage of personality disorders came naturally to me since I started work on the AMPD article. Since then, I have done a lot of work which I have listed below. In addition to that, I have in general worked on a massive overhaul of the article Personality disorder, as well as all sorts of different stuff on the articles for specific personality disorders, such as borderline personality disorder. A lot of updating, correcting and cleanup has been necessary, and this will continue to be the case moving forward as of June 2025[update].
Alternative DSM-5 Model for Personality Disorders
[edit]I looked for a Wikipedia article on the Alternative DSM-5 Model for Personality Disorders, (AMPD) and found that it did in fact not exist; thus I decided to create it and subsequently embarked on my journey of writing it, mainly in March of 2025, although it was originally created in the preceding December. I believe that the topic is important within the realm of current-date understanding of personality disorders. I have as such also included a section, or at least a paragraph (or in the case of BPD - a wikilink...) in every article concerning one of the ten personality disorders listed in the DSM-5 standard model. Not all disorders are included in the AMPD, but they can still be diagnosed as Personality Disorder - Trait Specified. I hope that many people will find it to be a valuable contribution and a source of meaningful and useful information.
Other work on PDs
[edit]- I have almost singlehandedly performed a major cleanup operation of the article on Malignant narcissism
- I have created the standalone article on ICD-11 classification of personality disorders with the help of free license content from Wikipedia and elsewhere
- I have worked on incorporation coverage of the AMPD, and later the ICD-11, in articles concerning personality disorders. Several articles already had these covered to at least some extent, but I have worked on all of them IIRC
- I created the article on Dangerous and severe personality disorder
- I have salvaged parts from the old article on Personality Disorder Not Otherwise Specified and from it constructed the current Other and unspecified personality disorders
Other contributions
[edit]- I actively copy edit articles, for example through Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors and scan for things which do not belong in Wikipedia, such as the examples over at Wikipedia:It should be noted
- I am quite active in the development of the Autism article
- I clean up articles and help in making a proper layout for them, such as in the case of AfC articles, which are often not perfect
