Should this 1984 1/2 be included? DrWho42 02:30, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it shouldn't. Many films have similar dystopic themes and I think only the ones that are directly connected to Nineteen Eighty-Four should be included. Brazil (film)#Analysis mentions 1984, but also Star Wars, The Matrix, etc. I haven't seen the film so I'm not absolutely sure, but judging from its WP page, I think it shouldn't be included. --Zoz (t) 14:17, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I really recommend that you see Brazil.. They were originally going to title it 1984 1/2 stating that it was a satire of that satire, but what with the film-adaptation of the actual book and the Orwell estate not allowing it they had to change it. DrWho42 23:06, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1985

Based on your opinion above, I've removed '1985' from this template, as the plot doesn't appear to be derived from 1984 (except in the general sense that it's a dystopia set in Britain). --Apeloverage 06:10, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Brotherhood

[edit]

I removed the brotherhood, seeing as it is a deleted page. Midorihana(talk)(contribs) 02:58, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nations Merge

[edit]

I'm altering the place section to reflect the merger of Redirect- Oceania (Nineteen Eighty-Four), Eurasia (Nineteen Eighty-Four) & Eastasia (Nineteen Eighty-Four) into Nations of Nineteen Eighty-Four Nutiketaiel (talk) 12:59, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Concepts

[edit]

In my opinion Doublespeak and Groupthink should not appear in this template under Concepts as they are not terms used in the novel. As stated in both articles they are concepts influenced by the novel and should therefore be in the related section. Their current placement may give the impression that they are terms used within the novel itself. Fieryninja (talk) 22:20, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Doublespeak is. So is duckspeak. Groupthink is related. PhilDaBirdMan (Talk |WikiProject Socialism | Current Incubator Initiative) 22:26, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
