"Manual population" category false positives

Articles including Bern are being placed in Category:Pages using infobox Switzerland municipality with manual population even though they are getting data from Wikidata a template, {{Swiss populations NC}}, and its allied templates. Pinging ProcrastinatingReader, who added this check and category. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:31, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The category is passed whenever |population=/|populationof= is used. If you omit the parameter set then it autofills it from the same template. There's no way the infobox can tell whether its input comes from a template. * Pppery * _{it has begun...} 03:19, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Merge or replacement?

I proposed merge or replacement for {{Infobox Switzerland municipality}} with {{Infobox settlement}}. Unlike other infoboxes of cities, villages, and municipalities, have their own native names in other languages for {{Infobox settlement}}. 181.39.48.120 (talk) 06:35, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This template is already a wrapper for Infobox settlement. It has some custom features that probably would not be welcome in infobox settlement. Are you proposing that those features be eliminated? Please make a specific proposal, or create a demonstration page that shows infobox settlement being used for a settlement that currently uses this template's custom features. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:14, 30 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
