Accessibility improvement for visually-impaired reader
[edit]{{editprotected}}
As described in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Flag Template #Fix for accessibility disaster, this template creates text that is unnecessarily hard for the visually impaired to read, because it creates unnecessary wikilinks to flags that cause screen readers to output text like "England link England link". There's a simple fix, which has already been applied to {{FlagIOCathlete}}, {{FlagIOCmedalist}}, and several other flag-generating templates: namely, add "|link=" in the image in question (as suggested in WP:ALT #When not to specify).
I have created this obvious sandbox patch to fix the problem. Please install it. Thanks. Eubulides (talk) 06:58, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Done Let me know if there are any problems. Plastikspork (talk) 07:55, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Combined Korean team
[edit]The IOC code that is used in this template for the combined Korean Olympic team is COR, but it is showing up as a disambiguation link, as in this table. Is there a way to disambiguate this link? Leschnei (talk) 19:41, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- Yes; add the second parameter "2018 Winter" which will properly disambiguate the link. Primefac (talk) 19:49, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- Ah, the light goes on! Thanks, Leschnei (talk) 03:12, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

Is there some kind of nowrap between the country's name and the IOC code as seen in the example above? Could the nowrap be removed from the template? Hddty. (talk) 04:18, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- There is a
between the flag, the name, and the code. Why would it need to be removed? Primefac (talk) 11:17, 1 October 2018 (UTC)- It looks ugly for me, especially on mobile version (see 2016 Summer Olympics medal table on mobile). Better line break occur naturally. Hddty. (talk) 15:53, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but AFG isn't on the 2016 medal table. Primefac (talk) 15:57, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- That's just an example. I request that all
is removed so it looked like the 2nd example. Hddty. (talk) 16:07, 3 October 2018 (UTC)- @Primefac: Could you update this template and similar template by removing
so it look like the 2nd example above? Hddty. (talk) 12:00, 7 October 2018 (UTC)- They're designed to be single-line, and I'm still not entirely sure why you want a line break anyway (I don't see one anywhere, even on mobile). Primefac (talk) 13:14, 7 October 2018 (UTC)

Change {{flagIOC2team| to {{flag IOC 2 team|. The {{flag IOC 2 team}} template has been moved in line with the proper naming convention of templates. Can it please be updated on here to avoid the template redirect? Thank you. 6ii9 (talk) 09:00, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Done. Primefac (talk) 12:40, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
