Template:Split dab
| This is a customized wrapper for the {{Split}} template, which means it's built upon the other template's code. Parameters from {{Split}} will only work here if they have been added to this template. If you have questions, ask at the talk page! |

This template is used to recommend that a disambiguation page ("dab") be split into two or more such pages. {{Split dab}} is a customized call to {{Split}}, and uses the same syntax (as of October 2015).
Usage
[edit]Apply to the top of the disambiguation page in question.
- Minimum syntax:
{{Split dab}} - Preferred syntax:
{{Split dab|Page 1|Page 2}}(include the present dab page as the first parameter if it would still exist after the split).
Use of the template places the article into Category:Disambiguation pages in need of being split, which is a child of Category:Disambiguation pages in need of cleanup. The meta-template this template calls also categorizes in Category:Articles proposed for splitting and its dated subcategory.

Notes
[edit]This template originates from discussions between Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation and Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy regarding whether and when to split one-name content (lists of people sharing surname or given name) from disambiguation pages or not. See for instance Category talk:Disambiguation pages in need of being split.
