Template:R from ampersand
When used inside the Redirect category shell template:
This page is a redirect. The following categories are used to track and monitor this redirect:
|
When used by itself:
- From a title with an ampersand: This is a redirect from a page name that has an ampersand to essentially the same page name without an ampersand.
Usage
[edit]- This redirect category (rcat) template populates Category:Redirects from titles with ampersands and Category:Unprintworthy redirects by default. In 2003, efforts were begun to support the Wikimedia Foundation's goal of increasing access and availability of Wikipedia articles in printed versions. Redirects from ampersands (&) are usually not suitable for a printed version. In other words they are unprintworthy. The word "and" should always be used; however, if the redirect is a former name, then it may be considered printworthy with the ampersand. See below for what to do if the redirect is printworthy.
| Please do not alter the printworthy settings of this rcat without first notifying the Version 1.0 Editorial Team, who are responsible for any and all materials, including redirects, that go into a printed version of Wikipedia. |
- Add this rcat to a redirect (not a talk-page redirect) in the following manner:
#REDIRECT (target article title)

- Template Rcat shell is an alias for the Redirect category shell template, which may be used to add as many appropriate rcats as needed, usually from one to seven, along with their parameters, to a redirect. For more information see the documentation on its template page. This rcat may also tag a redirect individually:
#REDIRECT (target article title)
R from ampersand
- This is in accord with instructions found at WP:REDCAT.
- Use this rcat to tag all mainspace redirects from names that are correct, but that use the ampersand (&) instead of the word "and". Wikipedia's naming convention for titles is to use the word "and".
Printworthy
[edit]- In a few cases, a redirect may be printworthy, so this rcat has an unnamed
|1=parameter that will change the printworthiness as follows:
#REDIRECT (target article title)

- (The "
1=" may be omitted.) The above will change from the Unprintworthy redirects category to Category:Printworthy redirects.
