Taylah Preston (born 27 October 2005) is an Australian professional tennis player. She has a career-high WTA singles ranking of No. 134, achieved on 18 March 2024, and a best doubles ranking of No. 175, achieved on 28 July 2025. She has won a WTA Challenger title in doubles.
As a junior, Preston reached a career-high combined ranking of No. 10.
Career
[edit]2022: WTA Tour debut
[edit]In January 2022, she lost in the second round of the Australian Open qualifying.[3]
Preston made her WTA Tour main-draw debut in doubles at the Melbourne Summer Set 2, where she received a wildcard partnering Alexandra Osborne. She also received a wildcard into the qualifying draw for the Melbourne Summer Set 1, where she defeated former French Open finalist, Sara Errani, in the first round, before falling in the final round.[4][5]
She made her WTA Tour main-draw debut in singles at the 2022 Rosmalen Grass Court Championships as a qualifier.[6]
2024: Major debut, first WTA 125 final and maiden top 50 win
[edit]Preston received a wildcard for her major debut at the 2024 Australian Open[7] but went out in the first round to Elina Svitolina.[8]
In February, she reached her first WTA 125 final at the Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, losing in three sets to McCartney Kessler.[9] Later that month at the San Diego Open, having been given a wildcard entry, she defeated world No. 42, Magdalena Fręch, to win her first Tour-level match and also her first against a player ranked in the WTA top 50.[10][11] She lost her next match to sixth seed Marta Kostyuk.[12]
Preston was given a wildcard entry to make her maiden appearance at the US Open in August but lost in the first round to 25th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.[13]
2025: First WTA 125 doubles title
[edit]Partnering Maya Joint, Preston won her first WTA 125 doubles title at the Cancún Open, defeating Aliona Bolsova and Yvonne Cavallé Reimers in the final.[14]
